High Resolution Images(< 1 meter; i.e. 6”, 12”, 18”)
• 2005 a banner year for digital orthophoto acquisition.
• Approx. 60% (~20 m acres) of state’s area.
• Value - approx. $2.5 million.

What’s a Digital Orthophoto?
• Aerial photo– Captured by film-based or digital camera.– Contains distortions due to differences in
terrain elevation and aircraft position.– Does not have constant scale across the
image.

What’s a Digital Orthophoto?
• Digital Image produced by:– Geometric correction of the image– Unwarping the effects of distortion due to
terrain and camera position.

What is a Digital Orthophoto?
• Produced from a variety of inputs:– Digital image– Control – values of known points– Terrain Model – DEM or DTM– Image rectification to terrain model, and fit to a
map projection– Metadata
