Overview: Harvard Medical School (HMS) allows those residing in Vanderbilt Hall who have an eCommons/MyCourses account to print out documents to the HP Laserjet 4350dtn printer located in Vanderbilt Hall Room 302B over the private (encrypted) HMS wireless network.
Special Consideration:
• This document has been tested using Windows Vista.
• Make sure that you have configured your computer so that you can connect to the private HMS wireless network. Read the online instructions for Windows Vista users at the Student Computing website: http://studentcomputing.med.harvard.edu/wireless_printing_vandy.asp.
Step-by-Step Configuration Instructions
NOTE: Student Computing does not provide paper for this printer.
Step 1: Make sure that you are logging into your computer as an Administrator account, not as a guest account. Then, log into the private HMS wireless network using your eCommons username, case-sensitive password, and MED for the domain.
Step 2: Go to the Start>Settings>Printers. A window will open for adding a printer to your computer.
Hostname or IP address: vandy-room302.med.harvard.edu
Port name: vandy-room302.med.harvard.edu
Uncheck Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use
Step 6: Highlight HP under Manufacturer. Scroll down and highlight HP Laserjet 4350 PCL 6 under the Printers column, and click Next. If the driver is not in the list, then do the following steps. Otherwise, jump to Step 7.
1. Launch a web browser and go to the following Hewlett Packard website at URL: http://www.hp.com/sbso/bussupport.html
2. Select Download drivers and software and enter HP 4350dt for the printer. Click the arrow. 3. Select the correct operating system (e.g., Windows Vista) for your computer. 4. Scroll down to the next page and download the correct driver for your operating system. (e.g., HP Laserjet 4350
PCL 6 for Windows Vista) to your desktop . 5. Double click on the zipped file and extract the files onto your C:\ drive. 6. Click on the button, Have Disk… in the Install the printer driver window. 7. Click the Browse button, migrate to the HP LJ 4x50 Series folder on your C:\ drive and double click on the folder.
8. Enter the .inf file, hpc4x50c.inf, and click the button, Open, in the Locate File dialogue window.
