We hope you were touched by last months letter! And know you deserve to always find favor with your heav- enly Father that loves you! Seek Him first because He always has your best interest in mind. Ps. 84:11 As we approach this month and reflect back on the scripture in John 3:17, 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to jdge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him. This scripture reminds us of how often in counseling the question arises Why did God let this happen?, Im no good?, Ill never have the life I wanted…?”. The volume of condemnation is always disheartening. But this is what the world and enemy wants. When the truth is He (God) did not let these things happen and they are good enough to get back on track to obtain the a great future. (Romans 8:1 says, Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punish- ment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]) Sin happens and the only cure for sin is walking in and with the holy spirit. But how…? Jesus promised us help! John 14:26 says, But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you. This is where conviction comes in. The voice of the Father is not one of condemnation, but of conviction. We have to retrain our minds to be guided, not punished. When the Holy Spirit convicts us, it is to get our attention, not to beat us up. Hebrews 12:11 speaks for itself, 12 For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems sad and painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness [right standing with God and a lifestyle and attitude that seeks conformi- ty to Gods will and purpose]Thus bringing forth freedom! Gal 5:1 [ Walk by the Spirit ] It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed]. We fight daily through counsel, teaching and intercessory prayer for the people God leads to CMBTC. Its not easy, but it is rewarding! We love you and praise God for you battling with us! Be blessed this month! In His love, The Hogan's

Condemnation to Conviction to Freedom

Greetings from Crossville MBTC! We hope you were touched by last months letter! And know you deserve to always find favor with your heav-enly Father that loves you! My name is Melissa Hunter. I am 54 years old and am from Trion, GA. I have been married to my husband, Bryan, for 30 years. God blessed me with two wonderful sons; Jason, who is 37, and Derek, who is 31. He also blessed me with three beautiful grandchildren, Olivia, Trever and Sydnie. I had a very strict Dad and a mother who

sacrificed everything for all of us. She took us to the Baptist church from an early age, but due to her work schedule, this came to an end. When I was 11, I started going to a Pentecostal church with my best friend and her family. This is the church I was baptized in. I smoked my first joint when I was 15, and got pregnant when I was 16. Thankfully, I had enough credits in my senior year to graduate early. So I graduated early and had my son a month later. I eventually moved out on my own. I met Bryan and we were married. I strayed very far away from the Lord-for many years. We went to church occasionally but never on a regular basis. But the seed was planted in

me. In December of 2016, I fell hard and started smoking methamphetamine. I walked off and left everything.-the home my parents left us when they passed away, my husband, and most of all, God. This was the darkest time in my life. On July 29, 2017, I went to my parent’s grave and prayed for God to take away my addiction. He moved really fast, because that night I was arrested and that began my journey here to Crossville Mission and most importantly, back to the loving arms of Jesus. My favorite scripture is Romans 4:7, which says “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.” Since I have been here, I was healed of the shingles by having faith in God and thanking Him. He is restoring my relationship with my husband and allowing me to love in the way that He loves us. The struggles in life that I face will build my faith by relying on God to see me through them. I know that He will never leave me or forsake me. I am now in the last two months of the residential program and am a Trainee Counselor. God has changed my life completely and has restored my relationship with my family. I can’t wait to see what He will do next!

For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.

Jeremiah 29:11

My name is Robert Aaron Hansel. I am 29 years old and am from Greeneville, TN. I had a great childhood. I grew up really close to my older brother. We used to hunt, fish and do pretty much everything together,

especially anything that had to do with sports. I also had a good relationship with my parents. They taught me how to do the right things and were always there to support me. I knew who God was but ran from Him for a long time. I ran around in school with the popular and “cool” kids and found myself looking for their acceptance. I started experimenting with alcohol in high school and that led to trying pain pills and Xanax. This all led me down a long, dark road. It started by just having fun and got way out of control. By the time I turned 17, I was a full blown IV drug addict. I was in jail when I was 18, and this affected me in a big way. I felt like I was a failure to my family. I carried around a lot of guilt and turned my back on the only people who really loved me. But thank you

God they never turned their backs on me (for some reason). Coming here to CMBTC has shown me what my purpose in life is. I am a new creation in Jesus Christ. He has restored my relationship with my family and has shown me just how much they love me. I am especially thankful that He has restored my relationship with my brother, Adam. We were so close growing up and then I let my addiction come between us. When he came here to visit me, I was really surprised and so very glad. Only the Lord can put these things back together. I am still a very young Christian, and know that this is a lifetime process, but I continue to grow. I am so thankful for the blessings that God has given me. I now have worth and can walk in integrity and not in fear. I just thank God for placing me here in Crossville and for giving me life and joy. Praise Him for everything He has done and is going to do. Thank Him for giving me another chance. I will not fail Him! “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
