I met Dara Bratt at Slope Fitness where she takes my Bootcamp class twice a week. In the back
row, unassuming, we shared pleasantries and a few brief conversations over time. It wasn’t
until I came back from Europe did I learn that she was a badass filmmaker. She came bounding
into the room, bursting to tell me something. Smiling from ear-to-ear. Surely, it wasn’t my class
she was so enthusiastic about.
“I read your book. Well, I read it twice. Once as a reader and once as a filmmaker.”
“A filmmaker?”
“Yes, I’m a filmmaker. And I loved your book. Have you ever been on film?”
“Yes–no–yes-ish, sort of.”
“Well, I was really inspired by your story and I’d love to meet for coffee and pitch you some
ideas.”
“Wow! I don’t know what that means, but it sounds exciting. Sure!”
WELL … we begin shooting this Saturday and so far my two biggest fears are that the redness
from today’s eyebrow threading won’t cool down in time, or that LouLou will impede all takes
in the apartment with her bull-in-a-china-shop kitten-crazies.
In all seriousness though, I am thrilled to hand over the creative vision of I Think I’ll Make It to
someone with whom I trust to capture the beauty in tragedy, the grace of a staggered journey,
and the joy of a life reclaimed.
I can’t wait to share this new chapter with you. One thing I know for sure, it’s gonna be an
adventure!
I leave you with this: What’s your favorite documentary? I feel like i have a lot of learning to
do.

Much Love,
