Polo Party & Awards Ceremony Sponsored by the law firm Adams & Reese, the PTF and USPA teamed up to present awards Friday April 20 at a banquet at IPC that also doubled as a silent and live auction fund raiser for the PTF. PTF presented their Florida Junior and Young Player Polo awards as follows: PTF Junior Sportsmanship: Giuliana Bautista and Jack Whitman; PTF Junior Most Improved: Ava Rose Hinkson and Finn Secunda; PTF Young Player Sportsmanship: Justin Eckbo Daniels and PTF Young Player Most Improved: Cipriano Echezarreta. All the young players gave heartfelt thank you speeches enthusiastically received by the audience. PTF Chairman Dick Riemenschneider, PTF President Tony Coppola, PTF Secretary Melissa Ganzi, Giuliana Battista, Jack Whitman, Finn Secunda, Ava Rose Hinkson, Justin Eckbo Daniels and Cipriano Echezarreta. PTF also presented Ginny and Steve Orthwein, Sr. the PTF Distinguished Benefactor award for their 30+ years of dedicated service to the PTF. The USPA also awarded Steve Orthwein, Sr. the prestigious Hugo Dalmar award. Steve is the only person to have won this award twice. Ginny gave a wonderful speech thanking both organizations for all the support the family has received and how important polo has been to the Orthwein family. The fund raiser was extremely successful with a sold out crowd of 300 attendees, and grossed over $125,000. This year on line bidding was introduced to the silent auction and it was open 10 days before the event. This allowed polo enthusiasts from the entire world to bid on items they desired. It was quite successful and should be even better next year. Stevie Orthwein Jr., Ginny Orthwein, USPA Chairman Chip Champbell and USPA CEO Bobby Puetz. The PTF would like to thank the USPA for joining us in this event and to Adams and Reese for being a title sponsor.
