Welding Specialist (7 Months )Upon successful completion of this program, the

gradate will receive a diploma and should posses the skills and knowledge to test for welder certification

through American Welding Society (AWS).

• Overview of Welding• Stick Welding Basics on Plate• Reviewing Symbols• Cut & prepare metal plate, thermal cutting• Perform overlapping beads• Welding Process• Welding Codes, Reading Blueprints, Calculating

• Perform 2G & 5G welds• Perform fill & cap in 6G and 2G positions• Practice basic pipe welding techniques

Advanced Pipe Welding

• Operation required for portable equipment, weld test procedures, testing approaches

• Perform mild steel TIG welding• Perform 2G, 5G, & 6G using TIG stringer,

fill, & cap• Performing stainless steel TIG welding• Perform 2G, 5G, & 6G pipe positions• Instruction in application for employment,

preparing a resume, weld test rigors, proper appearance, and job attitude

Welding Capstone

• Thin alloy selection of tungsten types for aluminum and stainless steel

• Procedures for heat settings on thin gauge applications

• Perform aluminum and stainless steel welding using TIG

• Lab competencies for 3G, 5G & 6G using Stick, Stick & TIG, and MIG including various combinations with bend tests.

• Preparation for Employer’s Weld Tests• Downhill welding in the 5G Position
