The Week at a Glance Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time
UPDATE ON RENOVATION
A wonderful crew of volunteers came together a couple of
weeks ago under the direction of Lori Picarazzi & David
Gutierrez, and they did a great job in cleaning, painting, and
reorganizing things as part of our effort to spruce up the
small gathering space beneath our church. A parishioner
donated a large screen TV to use for videos in classes and
other such sessions, another mounted it, and another fash-
ioned curtains for this new space. Work wrapped up this
past Friday and the renovated space was used for the first
time for a Friday social gathering for the staff and those
who invested their time, talent, and treasure in this effort.
Watch for upcoming opportunities as some upcoming
events will be hosted in this new, welcoming “multiuse”
space.
THANK YOU to all who have shared their time, talent, and
treasure to make this happen! Watch for more!

The Pastor’s Letter
Dear Family in the Lord,
Last Sunday we looked at the surprising grace at work in ordinary every day encounters,
realizations that come, repentance we embrace for times we fail to be open to the grace of unex-
pected moments. We glimpsed them in the lives of Isaiah, Paul, and Simon Peter. We saw in all
these unique cases, and in the “present moment” of our lives, extraordinary things happen that
otherwise would be missed if we are revisiting the past, or projecting our preconceptions or fears
into the future. We pondered the need to obey the call, trust in the grace of the moment, and not
put a question mark where God has put a period. Here is an excerpt from a recent blog entry from
parishioner Nate Bald, who is presently teaching in Madagascar and discerning his priestly voca-
tion. I thought it a providential follow up to my homily and letter last week. Enjoy it, ponder it…
as I did!
       With you on the Journey,

I haven’t consulted greater minds than my own, of which there are
plenty. But as far as I can tell, the present moment is whatever is in front
of you. It is emptying and filling the dishwasher and taking a moment to
offer the action to God. It is folding laundry. It is sweeping and mop-
ping the floor. It is wiping down the counter. It is sitting down for 30
minutes in the afternoon just to rest. It is speaking with a friend even
though you’d rather do something else. It is picking up that book you
have struggled to read. It is putting aside social media and electronics
simply to be present in the physical things around you. It is
doing your job without looking at the clock to see how much
time has passed. It is the sacrificing of wanting certainty
about the future or wishing the past had gone differently.

Life is the simple, the ordinary, the mundane. Rarely
are our lives filled with constant excitement, pleasures, and
joys. There are moments of sorrow, happiness, fatigue,
boredom, intensity, and all other sorts of nouns that span
the infinite spectrum of the human capacity for emotion and
states of being. All too often, however, we are concerned
with the past or the future, forgetting that the moment in
front of us is the only place that we can encounter each other, God, and
ourselves. And so I pray that we all embrace this present moment, that
we all seek after this encounter which only takes place in the here and
now. May it change us, make us more patient, more understanding,
more at peace, and, most of all, more loving toward God, each other,
and ourselves. As always, know that I pray for you each morning. All I
ask is that you do the same for me.
      May God be praised!

Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time
Looking to Lent
This year we will begin the Season of Holy Lent on March
2nd. In the coming weeks we will outline various opportu-
nities to embrace these days of prayer, renewal, and recon-
ciliation that will be offered in our parish. In addition, we
will offer a variety of faith enrichment opportunities to help
us all “go deeper” in the grasp of and appreciation for our
Catholic faith.

On the weekend of February 26/27, we will offer a selec-
tion of books for sale from the Sophia Institute Press. Plan
to drop by the display in the back to the church to find good
Lenten reading for yourself and your children! Watch for
more details. Start giving thought now to how you can
seize the opportunity and make this coming Lenten Season
your best ever!

Week of February 13, 2022
Pilgrimage to Italy is Coming!
Side tracked by Covid when scheduled for Spring
2020, then rescheduled for last Fall, but canceled due to
restrictions still in place that would have made travel cum-
bersome and with too many variables, we now are happy to
announce that October of this year is set for us to embark
on our pilgrimage to Italy with Fr. Gary and Fr. Joseph!
Brochures with dates, details, and info on how to register
can be obtained from Fr. Gary after Mass in the sacristy or
by dropping in to the parish office. Limited space, so first
come, first served! If you were planning to join us in the
past we hope you’ll sign up again, and, if you were not able
then, but can now, we would love to have you with us!
Called Home to the Lord
Please remember in prayer the repose of the soul of
Phyllis Moore, whose funeral Mass was celebrated recently
in our parish, and Thomas Geffert. To their families we
extend our heartfelt sympathy and prayerful support as well.

New 20/20 Series!
Our next 20/20 Raffle series will begin this month.
Tickets cost $20 each and are good for 20 weeks.
Each Sunday for 19 weeks, we draw two numbers to
win $25 each. On the 20th week is the final drawing,
with prizes of $500, $300, two at $100, and two at $50.
Tickets for the next 20/20 series will be available after
the Masses, or call Kathy during the week at the par-
ish office, 6034364555.
We have been blessed with a number of men and
women in our parish family who have stepped up and have
been sharing a great diversity of gifts of time and talent for
the upkeep and development of our parish facilities. We
had “Gardening Angels” start up last Summer, and our
“Martha & Mary Ministry” has been providing TLC for our
sanctuary, sacristy, and liturgical needs over the past few
years. Our Men’s Ministry has stepped up for a variety of
inside and outside projects, and individuals, on an “on call”
basis, have shared their expertise with “fix it” and carpentry
skills as well as electrical and plumbing help.
Over the past year, a number of newcomers to our
parish have stepped up as well. More have informally men-
tioned their willingness to help as well. So, watch an up-
coming bulletin for a TIME & TALENT STEWARDSHIP
CHECKLIST that we will invite you to fill out and return if
you would like to jump in. Many hands make light work,
and diverse talents pooled together yield great results, keep
things up, building community, and offering fellowship op-
portunities too.
In the months ahead, we will be developing various
aspects of our parish life and ministry as well, with focus on
evangelization, outreach, and deepening our appreciation
for what it means to be vibrant Catholics in our society to-
day. These areas too will be enriched, not only as leader-
ship emerges, but as more and more step up to share their
gifts for the building up of the Body of Christ here at Cor-
pus Christi! Be on the watch! Thanks to all who have al-
ready come forward!
Investing Time and Talent

Spiritual Remembrances
One of the greatest ways we can remember and pray for our
departed loved ones is through the offering of Holy Mass.
Each week our bulletin lists the daily schedule and the par-
ticular Mass stipend (offering) intention that was booked
for that intention. These are arranged by contacting Kathy
in our parish office. Due to volume of requests, and to try
to have opportunity for all, we have recently taken up some
policies regarding booking of Mass intentions, including
paying at the time of reservation. Kathy will be happy to
explain if/when you wish to offer a stipend and reserve a
Mass day and time.
In addition to Mass intentions, we have “spiritual gifts” you
can offer as a sign of prayer and remembrance for a depart-
ed loved one, or asking blessings upon the living on occa-
sions such as birthday, wedding anniversary, or in times of
illness or special need. These intentions are also published
in the bulletin. You can contact our office if you want to
reserve any of the following for a particular week of the
year. Our opportunities, and requested offering, include:
 Altar Bread for a Week’s Masses$25
Sanctuary Lamp, burning at the Tabernacle in
honor of the presence of our Lord$15/week
2 Votive Candles on Our Lady’s Altar
$10/week
2 Votive Candles on the St. Joseph Al-
tar$10/week
2 Votives hanging at the Black Madonna
Shrine$10/week
2 Votive Candles at the Divine Mercy
Shrine$10/week
2 Bouquets of Flowers for the High Al-
tar$150/week

Young Adult Ministry
Are you called to live your baptismal promises more
fully?
Do you desire to deepen your relationship with Jesus
Christ?
Do you seek a fuller prayer life?
Do you wish to know more about Carmelite Spirituality?

If your answer is “yes,” then God may be calling you to
consider becoming a Lay Carmelite. As one Lay Carmelite
observed, “I was drawn to Carmel in response to a call to
holiness through contemplative prayer, community, and
service. What I discovered was a lifelong process of in-
creasing union with God’s love through the Blessed Virgin
Mary, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.”
When lived out as intended, the Carmelite way of life com-
bines separate activities into a rhythm of life that draws a
person closer to God. These activities include participating
in a community of fellow Carmelites, private daily prayer,
service, and a lifetime of learning. Living as a Lay Carmel-
ite affects all aspects of a person’s life because it means
living according to a Rule in complete conformity with the
Catholic Church.
“Being a Lay Carmelite is doing ordinary things well,
which becomes a prayer offering to God.”
You are invited to learn more about Carmelite Spirituality,
and why Catholics have become Lay Carmelites, at an In-
formation Night, Thursday, April 7th, at 6:30 PM at the
Parish Center.
Fr. David Affleck (himself a Third Order Carmelite) is the
Spiritual Advisor of this Carmelite Community and will be
at the Information Night, along with other Carmelites, to
explain what the Carmelite Order offers and what is in-
volved in becoming a Lay Carmelite. For more infor-
mation, you can email us at [email protected] or
call 2073634827.
The following on going or upcoming opportunities are
open to all 18 to 30something. Note the contact listed
for each if there is an RSVP required or you want
more info.

Join us after 10:30 Mass NEXT Sunday, February 20, for
some ice skating at Strawbery Banke and time for lunch/
fellowship. After Mass grab your skates and meet in front
