our worship service. Additional information can be found in the pamphlet holder at the back of the sanctuary. Please fill out the information card in the chair pocket and place it in the offering plate so that we may know of your visit. PARKING As our special accommodation only lasts from 9AM to noon, if you park on the opposite

side of North Willow, please remember to move your car by that time. Parking is NOT allowed in any “Permit Only” spots. Parking is allowed in metered spots, which are free on Sundays. VISITORS WITH CHILDREN We have children’s ministry for infants through 4th grade during the service. Pre-K through

4th grade begin in the worship service with adults and are dismissed just prior to the sermon. Bulletins for children are available on the table in the back of the sanctuary to use

during the worship service. Activity Bags are located in a basket on the bottom shelf of the table that include paper and crayons. Blank drawing paper is also available in the same location. Feel free to pick up a bulletin and/or an activity bag at the beginning of the worship service. Please return the activity bags when you are done.

OUR PURPOSE Redeemer Montclair aims to be a community centered on and propelled by the gospel of

Jesus Christ to serve Montclair and the surrounding communities in word and deed.

This symbol, which is called a TRIQUETRA from the Latin word meaning “three cornere d,”

was used by the early church to represent the Trinity. The three interwoven areas are equal

in size, and each can be distinguished from the other two but cannot be separated without

destroying the figure. This symbolizes that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are three

persons of equal power, honor, and glory but are indivisibly one God.

Redeemer Montclair is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America. We have strong ties to the Redeemer Presbyterian Church of New York City.

SERMON TEXT — 2 Samuel 11:1-5, 14-17, 12:1-9, 13-14

1 In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem. 2 One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, 3 and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” 4 Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (Now she was purifying herself from her monthly uncleanness.) Then she went back home. 5 The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.”

14 In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah. 15 In it he wrote, “Put Uriah out in front where the fighting is fiercest. CORONAVIRUS CONCERNSAs a church, we are monitoring the coronavirus threat in our area and will notify our congrega-tion if the need to suspend our Sunday worship services becomes clear. In the meantime, if you or your child exhibit any flu-like symptoms, please consider staying home from church so that you don’t expose others. While you are at church, consider following recommended practices from the CDC: wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue. CHURCH MOVING DAY TBDThe dates we plan to move all the furniture, equipment and boxes from the church house into the new building are to be decided. We will communicate moving dates once we know whether we pass building inspections. We will eventually need two teams of people, one on Saturday morning and one on Sunday afternoon.

WORKSHOP ON ‘TALKING ABOUT POLITICS AT CHURCH’ – NEXT SUNDAYThe prospect of talking about politics at church makes many anxious. Why and how could we do so lovingly and constructively? Charlie Drew (retired PCA pastor, author, and board member of the Washington, DC-based Center for Christian Civics) believes that the church ought to be the safest place to talk about politics. He also believes that by rising to the challenge we get to be a winsome social surprise in our deeply divided times: we get to draw friends and neighbors to Christ by being the sort of community that sociologists and cynical political pundits cannot explain. On Sunday, March 22, from 12-2PM, Charlie will lead a workshop on this topic. It will include teaching, discussion, and private reflection. GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE – APRIL 10In preparation for Easter, please join us for our Tenebrae service on Good Friday, April 10 from 7-8PM. Childcare will be provided for nursery through toddler.

BUILDING PROJECT UPDATEWe are completing final electrical work and awaiting final elevator inspection. The new exit door from the sanctuary is still in progress along with finishing touches in the bathrooms and kitchen. Please pray that we will be able to complete all the punch list items so that we can apply for a temporary certificate of occupancy. Once we are able to move into the new building, we will prepare for demolition of the church house and construction of a parking lot in its place. Please watch your children so they don’t climb the construction fence or try to get into the work site.
