1.1 The colours of Biotechnology:
Red Biotech: Healthcare BiotechnologyBlue Biotech: Marine BiotechnologyGrey Biotech: Environmental Biotechnology
Jahrhundertrauchloses Schießpulver: nitrierte Baumwolle in Aceton lösen: Acetongärung
- 20. Jahrhundert: Nitroglycerin – Herstellung Bei Fettknappheit mikrobielle Glycerinherstellung

Directional Targets - Fuels
1. By 2020, Iowa will be producing 3% of U.S. liquid motor fuel from biorenewablesources (30% of the national goal).
2. By 2050, Iowa will be producing 17% of U.S. liquid motor fuel from biorenewablesources (30% of the national goal).

Kamm, B.; Kamm, M.; Appl. Microb. & Biotechn., 2004
Fossil organic ressources (oil, gas, coal) are exhausted ± 2050
Reserves• oil ± 45 years• gas ± 65 years• coal ± 200 years
How to satisfy energy, resources, food demand of 10 billion people
• Using environmentally friendly and sustainable technologies !!
• From the fossil - resource era to the bio-resource era??
Scenario: ± 2050
Ziel der Bundesregierung:(EEG: Erneuerbare Energie-Gesetz) 2010 : Anteil der erneuerbaren Energien 4 %
2020: Ziel der Steigerung: auf 10 %
Energie aus Biomasse:Derzeit weltweit 10 -15 %
Deutschland 2000 2 % erneuerbare Energien(Solar, Wind, Geothermie, Bio-Energie)
