P7 Home Learning. Week beginning Monday 8-3-2021
This week there will be a daily Sumdog task for you to complete.
In addition we will be consolidating our learning on fractions , decimals and percentages. There are also some tasks on perimeters and areas of shapes
There are also two tasks for everyone to try.
Task
Arithmetic practice I have set 2 tasks this week
Mental maths practice •There are also two mental maths challenges, each with 10 questions. •Remember that questions are to be read out loud and worked out in your heads before writing down the answer.
Numeracy & Maths
Try to do some numeracy and maths activities every day. I will set you sumdog challenges and either a mental maths or an arithmetic based challenge daily also.You can also set yourself a challenge to know all of your times tables fluently before the end of the school year.

This week we are going to continue reading "A Series of Unfortunate Events" by Lemmony Snicket, "The Bad Beginning".
Use this link to listen to chapter 4 of the book. It lasts around 10 minutes.
You may need to listen to this a few times before you can answer the questions on worksheet 1. As you listen take notes as this will help you.

Building Resilience
This will be our last week of home learning as we all come back into school on Monday 15 March.Take some time this week to reflect on your timespent learning at home. What did you enjoy? Adverbials are words or phrases used to describe a verb.
They can be one word (angrily, here) , or phrases (at home, in a few hours) and often say

Adverbials -We are learning how to use adverbials in our writing.
The adverbials below are time adverbials which mean they give us more inform about when something happens. Choose 5 and write a sentence for each.
Time Adverbials
Literacy Task 4 In chapter 3 we read about Justice Strauss’ meeting with the children and the visit to her
home. The sheet below will help you recall the events. Imagine you are Justice Strauss. Write down your thoughts during the time you spent with the children. What did you think of them? How did you feel towards them? How did you feel about the things they were asked to do?
1- Visited the children at Count Olaf’s house.
2 – Invited them to use the library.
3 – Took them to the market..
4 – Declined the offer of chores..
Literacy Task 4
In chapter 4 we read about Count Olaf’s reaction to the meal the children prepared and the actions during the troupe dinner. Use the sheet below to help you record the events of the dinner.Imagine you are Count Olaf. Write down your thoughts about the children during the troupe dinner. What did you think of them? How did you feel towards them? How did you feel about the way they spoke to you?
1- You have arrived home to find the orphans have made the wrong food
2 – Laughed at dinner while the orphans served.
3 – Furious that the orphan boy was rude about money.
4 – Plans for the future.
Writing Task 4
You are going to write a diary entry about the events in chapter 3or 4.
You can choose whether to write the diary as Justice Strauss. Imagine you were her. What do you think she would have written about the children and the time she spent with them?
Or
You can choose to be Count Olaf. Imagine how you would be feeling if you were him. What was he thinking when he got home to find no roast beef? How did he react? What did he think about the children and his actions? What were his plans?
You must use some adverbials in your writing.
Show your mum just how much you care about her and how much you appreciate everything she does for you.
Pick her some flowers, make her a cup of tea,how about giving her an envelope of treats –My own children one year gave me an envelope with small notes in it. As I opened each one it was a promise – of one hug, to brush my hair, to rub my back, to make a cup of tea, to clear away the dishes…. Be creative.
