and in memory of Conor Longby Fr. Peter and at St. Mary’s
for Kathleen Kaminski by Andrew & Sharon Breier.
FAITH MOMENT REFLECTION Loving isn't too difficult, right? Many
of us are surrounded by kind, lovely people
trying to do the right thing. Indeed, to "love ? your neighbor
as yourself" seems like it
should be easy enough. Treat people like you would like to be
treated. Bring the new
neighbors some baked goods. Chat with the bank teller about his
holiday weekend.
Write an occasional card to your sister "just because." There
were probably varieties of
these acts of kindness in Jesus' day. But "exchange pleasantries
with the traveling cloth
merchant" isn't the example Jesus gives. "A man fell victim to
robbers. . .they stripped
him and beat him and went off leaving him half-dead." The
righteous pass by the
scene of the dying man. The hero of the story is the one on the
margins of Jewish
society, who perhaps would not have been welcomed, in other
circumstances, by the
man now in the ditch. His neighborly love causes him to halt his
journey, to tend
wounds, and to pay for the man's care out of his own savings.
Are we interruptible?
Are we attentive to the hurts of others? Are we generous with
our money and
possessions? In the past few weeks, who has crossed your mind as
someone in need of
help? Perhaps it's an acquaintance suffering from cancer. Maybe
you were invited to
donate or volunteer to a local social cause, but it just won't
stick in your mind (or
schedule) to make it happen. The needs of people are many and
varied. We can't help
everyone, but God does place opportunities in our path for
compassion and courageous
love. This week, be "the one who treated him with mercy."
MASS INTENTIONS FOR 2020
To schedule a Mass, please contact the Parish Of-
fice. A Mass is a sacrifice of Jesus on the cross,
brought forward in time to the present. At Mass you
could say that a “time warp” is opened in which the sacrifice of
Jesus
is mystically brought forward to be present to us. When we are
pre-
sent at a celebration of the Eucharist, we are not merely
turning our
attention to the past. We are actually bringing forward into the
pre-
sent the most pivotal moment of human history. Masses can be
offered for a number of intentions: for the deceased, to invoke
the
Lord’s special graces for a friend or loved one, for a
successful sur-
gery and recovery, or for an anniversary. Please make sure to
stop
by or call the Rectory Office to schedule a Mass.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity to our
parish. Each of us has a responsibility to share our
resources
to help our parish grow in faith. The Lord asks us that we
share not from surpluses, but that it be a sacrifice from
each
person.
St. John’s Offertory: $3,232 | St. Mary’s Offertory: $846
HAPPENINGS & ANOUNCEMENTS
Please consider helping our Coffee Hour Coordi-
nator Jen Baglio by volunteering to help set up for
the 8:00 Mass - or, especially needed - people to
clean up after 10:30 Mass. Also anyone gifted
with a baking talent can bring baked goods to the church the
1st Sunday of each month. Thank you for your support. Our
next coffee hour is Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019. All are welcome.
This weekend, the St. Mary’s Altar flowers
are a gift from the Haier Family for De-
ceased Members of their Family. Thank you.
WELCOME
Please welcome Jason & Brenna Braunscheidel
and their family to our Parish. May they find
warmth and happiness here in the years to come.
ST. MARY’S BOILER
The cost of a new boiler totals $9,000. We have raised
$4,000
to date. If you would like to help finance this acquisition,
please place your donation in an envelope marked ‘boiler’
and
put it in the collection basket. We truly appreciate your
con-
tinued generosity.
CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES
The cost of supplying parishioners with offertory envelopes
can be expensive. Many times, smaller offertory contribu-
tions do not cover the cost of these envelopes. While we do
appreciate any contribution to the church, please consider
using a plain envelope from home to make your smaller do-
nations. Remember to record your envelope number and
name on the plain envelope. This will assist us in keeping
our
envelope costs to a minimum. Thank you for your help.
ST. MARY’S CHICKEN BBQ UPDATES:
We are still in need of more volunteers for
the bbq. Set-up will begin on Saturday,
July 20th at 1:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church.
We will begin cooking chicken at 7:00 am
at The Haier’s, 8558 Sisson Hwy. Basket set-up will
begin at 8:00 am at the church. Servers should be at the
church by 10:30 am Sunday. Clean-up begins at 1:00
pm. Please call Harold/Lori Haier at 992-4867 if you are
able to help.
We are in need of some baked goods for the bbq. We
will be selling desserts for $1, so we need these wrapped
and ready for sale. Please drop off desserts between 8 am
- 10 am Sunday, July 21 at the church.
We have received a twin-bed quilt donation from the
Quilt Farm. There will be a special raffle for this quilt.
Chances cost $1 each or 6 for $5. We will be selling
chances before and after each Mass this week. SCHOOL RENTAL
If you are interested in renting our school for your own
event, please call San Dee at the Rectory (941-3549)
on Fridays from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.
SECOND COLLECTION CHANGE
To avoid taking up three collections at the Aug. 3rd/4th
Mass, we have decided to change the day we will hold
the Retired Diocesan Priests Medical Benefits Collec-
tion. Please remember to place your Retired Priests
funds contribution in the Saturday, July 27th or Sun-
day, July 28th collection basket (one week early).
The following weekend, Fr. Justus Ndyamukama from
the Diocese of Buffalo will be at St. John’s on Aug. 3-4.
He will make a missionary appeal for the Diocese of
Musoma in Tanzania, East Africa. The second collec-
tion that weekend will be taken to support this appeal.

ding Anniversary of this year 2019. A Wedding Anniversary

September 22, 2019 at 10:30 am. Following Mass, the op-
portunity to take photographs with the anniversary couples
will
take place in the Lady Chapel. There is no cost for this
