Once Completed Return to the Nominated Safer Workplace Manager for Your Area

This checklist is designed for optimum use when considered alongside the Your Workplaces Checklist and Principles. They apply generic and specific checks and procedures across our operations and services.

This checklist adapts some specifically towards clinical environments.

Of importance continues to be that people are only in the workplace if they need to be. PPE is an item of last resort when all other measures are in place or verifiably cannot be put in place. Physical distancing is the

norm in all situations.

There is either a clearly defined ACCESS with separate EXIT, or a written procedural note and process to ensure physical distancing as people use the single Access and Exit point including when queuing to enter

5Staff and students are aware of the requirement to maintain PHYSICAL DISTANCING rules as the norm when moving around in public spaces and corridors.

The Clinical Station (nurses station, doctor station, monitoring point, staff gathering place, reception, or any equivalent) is designed to ensure that staff physically distance whilst working and that PPE is not used as an alternative

Resting and Rest Facilities within the Clinical Unit

There are written occupancy procedures, rules and clear signage in line with the Your Workplace Checklist requirements for any private rooms or offices

There is clear guidance on the use of any communal rooms, rest rooms and coffee areas to ensure physical distancing is practiced. This includes an acceptance of the likely reduction in people using the facility at any time and subsequent shift redesign to accommodate.

Visiting staff and students from NHS or LA are afforded a duty of care briefing and relevant guidance and PPE as required, to be able to safely conduct their business

Points of contact in the clinical environment are cleaned regularly, including door entry systems, call bells, monitoring equipment, telephones, bleeps, and all other relevant contact points identified by risk assessment or cleaning regime
