N E W S Encounter ... Engage ... Express A New Perspective We serve a God who wants to change the world (That’s what the Incarnation was all about). The world not only needs to be changed, it’s practically begging for someone to change it. Changing the world might sound like an overwhelming task for any believer to take on, and it is. That’s why God hasn’t asked you to do it. While some (a few) may be called to take on a specific call to do something global that actually impacts the world, most of us won’t be. But that doesn’t mean that what He calls us to do is any less important. God has given each of us our own little niche of humanity. Everyone has been given, on the average, anywhere from eight to fifteen people -- individuals whom God has supernaturally and strategically placed in our relational world. The Greeks called that circle of influence your oikos. Over the course of the next few months, we are going to help you discover who makes up your world. Those people are on God’s radar screen, and I believe He wants to reach out to them through the one element they all seem to have in common -- you! Throughout the New Testament, whenever God’s Spirit changed a life, a world changer was born. Whether it was a demon possessed man, a swindler named Zacchaeus, a royal official with a dying son, a tax collector named Matthew, a Centurion named Cornelius, a businesswoman named Lydia or a recently unemployed Philippian jailor, they all were sent back home to their oikos. Oikos is not a program. It’s not an event. It’s not an emphasis. It is actually a worldview, a set of lenses through which you plan a day or even a life! As one who follows Jesus, oikos is a challenge because He challenged the people who placed their faith in Him to radically alter the focus of their lives -- and we would like for you to take that challenge! Make a list of your oikos and keep it current Pray for your oikos by name daily Do life with them Invite them to church regularly Let God do the rest! Chapin Baptist Church exists to equip you to reach your oikos for Christ. Let’s tag team on this and change your world together. Blessings, Pastor Chad

Quick Ideas to Reach Your 8-15• Create a list of your 8-15. You can use the oikos

bookmarks available each Sunday at the Information Table. Be sure to keep this list updated.

• Every day pray by name for each person in your oikos. Ask that God would begin to draw them unto Himself, and He would use you as His instrument.

• Invite a few couples over to your house for dinner and games. Create a pleasant and non-threatening environment.

• Send an encouraging note to a few people in your oikos. Let them know how grateful you are to have them as friends.

• Invite them to church on Easter! 80% of Americans will try to find a church to attend on Easter ... why not ours? In other words, if you ask, they will come!
