December 10that St Georges RC Church...WCBs Own Festive Concert was a big hit. Ifyou attended you will recall the first half wastraditional, with the band in uniform and playing toa captive audience of nearly 80.Right:Guest SingerMargaret Peters took charge

and had the audience eating out of her hands withthat you could hear a pin drop silence; displayingher remarkable vocal expertise, Margaret gaveeveryone an evening to remember; presenting herown repertoire (Brian Hodgetts on piano) she ledthe audience into popular Christmas Carolsaccompanied by the band.

Left: Principal Cornet, Jenny, with Liza(Soprano) and Vince (Repiano) behind.Right: Emma Solo Horn.

Band jackets were off in the secondhalf, with festive garlands on

instruments, seasonal headgear and anupbeat Christmas theme in the score.

The raffle raised more (with several bandmembers holding winning tickets) and aftercosts towards license fees for the band, itwas a successful fund raising concert forMidland Air Ambulance.

    __________________________________________Tuesday at Tescos(Worcester) 21stDecember

Carolling at St Peters and WCBcollected in thebucket from generous shoppers that evening.Proceeds go towards Midlands Air Ambulance andWCB. It was cold and bitter and although they werereduced in player numbers the quality of sound wasnot feedback coming from many happy shopperswho put generously change and notes into the buckets.

    __________________________________________Saturday 19th- Strensham Services,Southbound Side; 1100 to 1500 hours.

L-R: Liza, Andy, Roger, David, Marianne and Brian. It was dry and bright, with snow underfoot, and just

a whisper of windturning the Carol Bookpages.

Six players gathered outside the ServiceLeft: Euphonium duettists Sally building and set upstands with Heather holding one of twobuckets and the camera! WCB were

playing again this year to raise funds jointly for Midland Air Ambulance.

(Bucket inset). The cold did not ease; an hour later the group wasinvited by the Service Manager to move just inside to the left of thefoyer entrance. With numb toes and fingers and numb lips (definitely not good for abrass player!) it was just in time. Thanks to the management for muchappreciated and ... subsidised hot drinks for all.

Left: Brian (MD), Marianne, (seated) withAndy, Roger, David, Liza and Edward.

The customers kept on coming withtheir appreciative smiles and donations,

in hand put into the buckets. Thanks, also to Heather for thepictures.
