This worksheet focuses specifically on short vowel sounds. The first 3 worksheets provide exercises with 3-letter CVC words, which stand for consonant (C), vowel (V), consonant (C). “Bat”, “cat”, and “dog” are examples of CVC words. At this stage, the challenge will be for your child to hear a sound in the middle of the word. The last 2 worksheets are more advanced with 4-letter words. Worksheet 4 has CVCC words such as “hand”, “bell”, and “gift”. Worksheet 5 has CCVC words such as “ship”, “frog”, and “drum”.
