On May 19th, the Windy City Chapter had its first meet in over 10 years. All three years of
Edsels were present, with eight Edsels attending, a new chapter record.
We met for lunch in Plainfield, Illinois, then drove 1/4 mile east to the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern
Depot Museum. This well restored little depot was moved from its original location a few
blocks away to its current spot, which at one time was a wrecking yard which contained four
Edsels.
The man who gave us the depot tour said that during 1958-1960, his father was a sales-
man who drove a 58 Ranger with Tele-Touch. He said that up through that time, the Edsel
was his Dads' favorite car ever.
We then visited the Plainfield Historical Society Museum a few blocks away.
Several new people and several new Edsels were at this meet. We hope to get together at
least one more time this year, perhaps in conjunction with another car show.

Hello Edsel Folks;
I'd like to welcome David Fleischer as our new editor. Like myself, Dave has
been an Edsel nut since he was a kid. I think he'll do a fine job. Thanks for
taking the position, David!
I'd like to say a big "Thank You" to our outgoing editor, William Cooke. He's
done a fine job for us over the past year and I'm grateful to him for his efforts.
I must correct a glaring error that I made in my last President's Letter. I men-
tioned that, at the Springfield meet, we had Edsels from both sides of the U. S.
(Pennsylvania and Washington), but forgot to mention Reg Brown driving his
'58 convertible from South Carolina. My apologies to Reg. When you drive a
55-year-old car 900 miles, it deserves mentioning!
