The 21st century program under the direction of Chelsey Snyder and Courtney Lightfield had a very good time! They painted another wall! This was the last of our five

year grant with the 21st Century . We hope someday in the future we will be able to do it again. In the meantime Mrs. Lightfield and a few others are continuing a few of the after school programs such as : GNN (Grantham video news), G.A.P. program by Mrs. Lee, Archery will happen thanks to Mrs. Ledgerwood. The Grantham Griz-zly News– Mrs. Layes (during school) and some homework help. LCSC is still doing reading help with kids after school and TLC at the Presbytery church. Thanks to all these people who

Hazel & Lilly’s Book Review

Smile by Raina Telgemeier

We have read this great “graphic arts” book (aka: a cartoon book!) & we really enjoyed the story very much. Our favorite parts in “Smile” are: Lilly’s fav: - Where Raina‘s tooth got knocked out by run-ning across the street, she fell because she tripped over a rock! Hazel’s fav: - Is where Raina got braces because her two front teeth went up to high when she fell! So braces for her! We loved this book! The author has written “Sisters” & “Ghosts” too. We hope you check this book and the others out from the library!

This is Lilly H.and this is Hazel A. Happy Reading!

Mrs. Thompson By Kobey C. /Siras P.

Mrs. Sarah Thompson is our new music teacher here at Gran-tham! We are very excited to learn new music from her!

Mrs. Thompsons favorite stuff.

Favorite color –

Favorite food – mac + cheese

She has “0” kids so far!

Random fact – she loves being a music teacher!

We hope you will enjoy her music classes, band, singing-chorus, and Marimba’s! If you don’t see her there, she is in the gym at lunch sometimes! Welcome to our school Mrs. Thompson!

By Serenity W. I thought it would be interesting to get teachers and staff thoughts on why we do conferences this time of the year.

My first interview was with Miss Carrie. She thought that parents should know what kids are doing in school.

The next interview was with Mrs. Kathy Hocking. Mrs. Hocking said they do conferences to inform parents how their child is doing in school and what they can do to help them at home and at school. She said, “We also let parents know rules, expectations, and other important information.”

My last interview was with Mr. Josh, our counselor para. He said conferences are to help keep parents informed about their kids in the classroom. I hope this helps you understand how important these things are. See you at conference time!

By Sunshine S. The School Carnival on the 13th was an exciting event! There were all kinds of games, face painting, nail art and for FOOD: there was Hot Dogs to eat!!!!!! It was delayed by 1 week due to the awful smoke in the valley and then on the 13th we had the threat of rain, so it all got set up inside! And the kids who helped were fabulous!!! Mrs. Heath is in charge of the evening. She had the 6th graders to help, and it is optional for the 2nd – 5th. The reason being is the 5th and 6th do work in place of earning money for the boat trip! Well here are some pictures of the Carnival! P.S. There was a real carnival at the Nez Perce County Fair this last weekend and I was still in a carnival mood, so I rode one of the rides: STAR TROOPER, five times!!! Whoohoo!!!!!!!! Sunshine S., sighing out.

Marimbas have started up again and it is new to

some students because this is their first time playing, but

someone else is new here at it, too! It’s our very, very,

own new music teacher, Mrs. Sarah Thompson! People

like to try marimbas out. And Mrs. Thompson would like

them a try and stick to it, after all, Mrs. Thompson is

learning how to play AND teach marimba’s, too! I say

give it a good go (a couple of months at least!) and then

you will know if you like it or not! Mr. Mead, alumni stu-

dents and Mrs. Finn are there to help too! However, I re-

ally think you will love it! Be ready people to hear many

good vibes down the first hall in the music room!

Kelso says, “Remember, It’s Your choice baby…” Is it a little problem? OR is it a BIG problem? Ask yourself these 3 questions:

Is it scary? Is it Dangerous? Or Is it Illegal?

Those are BIG problems so go to an adult BUT, if not, STOP! And think about Kelso’s Choices!

You can wait and cool off, You can walk away, Go to another game and try again the next day, Tell them to stop, Or make a deal, Walk away, Or tell them how you feel, Apologize, Share your concerns, Ignore them, Or you can share and take turns If there is a problem, you can solve it Check out the wheel while Kelso revolves it.

Mrs. Layes reminds you to: STOP! And remember Kelso’s Choices!
