Suicide Prevention
This past month there was a very special walk that
happened in Clarkston. It was called, “Bridge the Gap”. This
is the 3rd year of the annual walk now! The organizers are
trying to bridge the gap between suicide and awareness
through education and to end the shame surrounding sui-
cide and getting people more aware to help prevent sui-
cide.
Over a 100 people, including me, was there. Our very
own Mrs. Bree Reiner, Speech/Language Pathologist here at
Grantham, was there and is involved with the event &
awareness program. Almost everyone who attended the
walk are somehow related to suicide in some personal way.
Sometimes sad is ok. Sometimes we lose family or
friends and it is ok to be sad. There is always an awkward
moment that you might not want to talk about. Or maybe
it’s you talking to someone about how you feel. It’s better to
ask than stay quiet, it can save a life or yours. Our communi-
ty has many people you can talk to, in our schools, Counsel-
ing offices, or in the privacy of your homes. And there is a
Spirit Week The 19th through the 21st was spirit week for Grantham.
We celebrated by having a PJ Day, Miss-match Day, and
Spirit Day (red and black). The teachers enjoy these days too
by dressing up! We also raised money and brought in a ton
of food to donate to our local food bank. In a grand total of
and I am proud to say, we made $203.00 and 201 pounds of
food!! Thank you for all of the support from the Grantham
Boosters & you Grizzlies!

By Jetta J. & Francesca St.M. The three days before Thanksgiving our whole school did a STEAM study on Planets! Each class studied about a cho-sen planet, we got to learn about the constellations and make a star chart of a constellation. We learned about the moons lunar cycle and used Oreo cookies to demonstrate it! Each class also did an art project using chalk to draw the planet we studied in our classroom! We could even
dip the chalk into water to look more paint like if we wanted to! Then on the 1/2 day we all came to-gether in the gym for a student led assembly to present our facts on the planets we studied. All our planet art was put up in order of the solar system it was fabulous! Here are some pictures!

Food Bank Donations!
We have an amazing school here I must say so myself! This last month the students and staff participated in a canned food collection compe-tition and had fun doing it too! In order to par-ticipate in our 3 days of Spirit Week, where we dressed up, we had to either bring a can of food or more OR pay up in quarters each day! We had a PJ Day, Mismatched Day, and a Red-n-Black Spirit Day! We collected 201 pounds in canned food and $103.00 and then the Gran-tham Boosters matched the cash with $100.00! Here are some pictures of the donation to the Asotin County Food Bank.
Homeless
Animals Need Our Help!
And again I say-We have amazing students
and staff at this school! This last month the stu-dents in Mr. Wendt’s 3rd grade class and Mrs. McLachlan’s 3rd/4th grade class did a reading unit on the book: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. They studied about “hobo” animals and learned that “hobo” usually means that someone travels from place to place. Well, our local animal shelter and the Helping Hands people who rescue animals are seeing a rise of animals coming into their care. The needs for more food and animal toys and collars and leashes were becoming more in need. Therefore, the class thought it would be cool to have a competition and have the whole school participate to see which class brought in the most supplies and food by No-vember 26th and the winning class would earn a class celebration from Mr. Wendt’s & Mrs. McLach-lan’s classes! The class that won was Mrs. Strasser’s 2nd grade class! They had a Root beer Float Party on Thursday the 29th given by the other 2 classes! The overall amount of food brought was well over 100 pounds plus all the animal toys! Former Grantham Booster President, Cathy Carlson and Anna Estrada, both from Helping Hands, brought with them a cou-ple of little friends to visit when they picked up the food! Arnie the wobbly dog and Stewart B. Little the miniature black panther! They had a really great time and thank all for the great amount of dona-tions and those involved! WoooHooo!!!

Hi, this is Hazel telling you about the OZOBOTS! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! The Asotin County Library
brought Ozobots to our classroom, Mrs. Hockings class,
but Mrs. Strickler was subbing for her at the time. Each
of us was supplied with an Ozobot, color marker pens
and paper that had the codes on it. The Ozobots follow
a black line and if you put certain colors like tally marks
within the line, it will do something. Like red, green, red
- it will go as slow as a snail. Therefore, the lines that
the Ozobots follow are a code. We in 4th grade and are
excited about learning code.
Yay! Here is some pitchers of
us working with the Ozobots.
I hope you like them. Hey,
this is Hazel signing off for
now, got some coding to do!
Byyyyyyyeeeeeeee!
