Hello Everyone, I hope that everyone is doing well these days. Unfortunately I missed the summer meeting be-cause of court, but I understand that everything went well. I would like to thank Kathy West and the Griffin Police Department for hosting the meeting. I would like to congratulate two of our members on their recent re-tirement from the GBI, Lou Cuendet and Terry Cooper. Both of these men have been long-time members of the GAIAI and they have contributed greatly to the success of our organization. I wish them well in their retirement and I am honored to have been able to work with each of them. Terry Cooper has resigned his po-sition as 2nd VP, so I am appoint-ing Patricia Gilbert to the position of 2nd Vice President and Rita Smith to the position of Historian. They will fill these positions until the election of officers at the an-nual conference. Stephen Greene has posted the conference schedule on the web-site. I would encourage everyone to look at the schedule and regis-ter for the conference. The train-ing looks very good. I look forward to seeing each of you at the conference.

ments and a certificate is issued for those attending the conference. The FDIAI conference started as a small statewide training conference with a handful of exhibitors and that many attendees. Over the years it has grown to the largest state division conference with attendees coming from around the country and as far away as England. It grows every year and has become recog-nized as one of the finest forensic training confer-ences available. The conference brochure will be mailed out the first week of August and will also be posted online. We have updated our conference registration form and now accept credit cards for payment.

The premises of identification, scientific basis and identification process are reviewed and presented in a manner which is appli-cable to both sciences. An evaluative identification process consisting of a philosophy and methodology is pre-sented and demonstrated with class participation. The student will also learn this systematic process not only flat-tens the learning curve, but empowers the expert to clearly describe how an evaluative identification is carried out using a step-by-step process. Class participation is designed to develop a candidate’s ability and confidence when describing the various specifics involved in evaluative friction ridge identification.
