Well, ear- lier today I was able to wit- ness a great example of integ- rity. One of our students was with his mother getting ready to leave. He took his belt out of her hand then put it down in the chair next to him. While standing at the door, the mother ran back to re- trieve the belt stating “I al- most left this here.” My little man of integrity spoke up quickly and said, “I put it down there. I almost left it, not you.” He could have sim- ply kept quiet and allowed her to accept responsibility for his action, but he did not. I was very impressed and proud of him at that moment. AAU Registration
Some of you have heard Instructor Smith talk about the changes he is making in our association. In an effort to continue
to make the school better, Instructor Smith is moving SMAA from World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) to Amateur
Athletic Union (AAU). The only reason to do this is better communication. We do not loose anything with the associa-
tion change. Like WTF, AAU is governed by the Taekwondo Officials at Kukkiwon University in Seoul, Korea. This
means that we will continue to practice the Taeguk Poomses. It also means the sparring rules are the practically the
same. Instructor Smith is investigating all of this to ensure he understands what the students will face when they enter a
contest. You may register for AAU at: www.aausports.org. Please note the AAU membership is Sept 1, 2012 - Aug 31,
2013. Therefore, on Sept 1, 2013 you will need to register again. Instructor Smith is very excited about the association
change because he knows this will make SMAA a stronger school and make the SMAA students even better students.
