beyond each variety’s fortification package (vitamins and minerals), what are the key differences between bottled vitaminwater® and vitaminwater® fountain?
1. colors - all of the food colorings used in products of the Coca-Cola Company are safe and permitted by regulatory authorities in the countries where the products containing them are sold. food colors help make foods and beverages more appealing. they can be used to enhance colors that occur naturally and to help correct natural variations in color. food colors can also offset color loss due to a product’s exposure to light, air, extreme temperatures, moisture and storage conditions. bottled vitaminwater® is formulated with colors found in fruits and vegetables but, for technical reasons, we use man-made colors for vitaminwater® fountain.
2. preservatives - preservatives help to prolong shelf life, prevent microbial spoilage, slow or prevent changes in color, flavor or texture and maintain the freshness of our products. potassium benzoate, potassium sorbate and calcium disodium edta are 3 preservatives used to prevent food spoilage and to protect taste in vitaminwater® fountain. bottled vitaminwater® does not contain preservatives because it is hot-packed, which prevents spoilage under normal storage and distribution conditions.
3. water - bottled vitaminwater® is formulated using reverse osmosis water. reverse osmosis is a process that produces purified water by removing most of the soluble solids. pressure is applied to the source water, forcing single water molecules through a semipermeable membrane, leaving behind the impurities. the water used to make vitaminwater® fountain depends on the retail outlet. we require this water meet u.s. epa primary drinking water regulations for drinking water quality.
