More Questions…

• Why do we want to do these things?• Where do all our other ministries fit in?• What kind of difference will these ministries

make in the lives of participants? In the lives of those in our community?

• What are the principles and values that will guide us?

• And why do WE want to do these things, as opposed to another church?

• Who are WE anyway? What is our identity?

So that is what we want to do… but there is still something missing

In 2009 St Luke’s leadership set out to assess and articulate St Luke’s vision. Over the last year church leaders and staff have worked to define the church’s DNA. We worked with Auxano, a consultant for successful churches around the country, and created a platform for missional movement using a tool called the Vision Frame.

Page 8: Vision frame web

Let’s take a look at the major components of the Vision Frame. You will see that it is a conceptual framework through which we can see where God is taking St Luke’s.

The Vision Frame is already making a difference for St Luke’s. It is being used in the following ways:

• Basis for sermons, studies, & common language.• Foundation for 2011 planning and budgeting. • Basis for a new branding process. • Development of leadership• Identification of the church’s goals.

Vision Proper

Page 16: Vision frame web

The Vision Proper is the next mountain we are going to conquer. It is the next major step we take as a community together, living out our mission to be gathered by Jesus to enact faith in love.

The mountain we will take…?

We will be a church

Where No One Walks Alone

St Luke’s is a community in which no one walks alone. Christian friendship is the tool we use to change lives. We never give up on one another, and we are not afraid to challenge one another to move forward on the pathway of Christ. Everybody needs a training team. Our favorite invitation is “Hey… Come Walk With Me.”

How do we know if we are making progress in becoming a community “Where No One Walks Alone”?

By setting milestones to help motivate, challenge, and focus our people towards results.

Milestones by Summer 2012

• Three-quarters of our active congregation will be part of a caring network, in which each person has a caring checkup conversation with someone at least once a quarter.

• One-third of our active congregation will be involved in a small Discipleship group, which uses Acts 2:42-47 as a rule of life.

• 100 new families from the community around Gethsemane will be in relationship with St Luke’s, through Project Neighborhood, Breaking Bread (table fellowship) and Children and Youth ministry.
