CIDC – Activities:

The "2016 (Chengdu) Dialogue on South Asia Production

Capacity Cooperation" from 1st to 4th November 2016 at

Chengdu, China drew an enthusiastic response from the

participating nations. Besides the Chinese companies and

delegates, a sizeable delegation from Bangladesh, Pakistan,

Lagos, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India and other countries

participated in the dialogue. The dialogue this year was

held at the Chengdu Airport Hotel. The Dialogue on 2nd

included presentations from Trade Consuls of respective

countries who presented their case for building greater

trade interactions amongst the participating nations

followed by a one to one business interactions session.

The CIDC delegation was led by Shri Pradip Bhargava, Former Addl. Chief Secretary, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh and comprised of Prof. (Dr.) Niranjan Swarup, Director General (IndSTT), Mr. Ashutosh Bhardwaj, Director-CA (CIDC), Mr. Eliyas Husainkhan Pathan, Executive Engineer (Drainage), Surat Municipal Corporation, Mr Dharmendra Kumar Sharma (Proprietor- Shiv Shakti Construction Company), Mr Deepak Kumar Sharma, Dy. Manager - Projects (CIDC) and Mr. Awanish Kumar Pandey Assistant Manager - Training (CIDC). Prof. (Dr.) Niranjan Swarup & Mr. Ashutosh Bhardwaj shared the work being done by International Society for Trenchless Technology and Construction Industry Development Council respectively and invited the stakeholders to participate in the India growth story through flagship programs of the Government like Make in India, Swachch Bharat, Digital India and Skill India.

On 3rd November 2016, the CIDC delegation proceeded to Chongzhou to participate in the “Chengdu Manufacturing Integrating into “One Belt and One Road” Special Promotion Meeting.

The keynote address was given by Mr Pradip Bhargava who called for the accelerated economic development of the region, and said it is imperative for all stakeholders to synergies with each other to explore opportunities and develop the most cost effective models that benefit the geo-political region.

The fruitful trip to Chongzhou included factory visits for furniture making, PVC pipes and agriculture and farm equipment. Post lunch the delegates travelled to the ancient town of Jeizi to have a glimpse of the local culture and folk art. The visit included a spectacular performance by the Chinese Opera and ballad. This was enjoyed thoroughly by all the participants irrespective of their country.

CIDC – Activities:

The Chongzhou Manufacturers Association hosted the gala dinner in the evening and the delegates got an opportunity to mingle with each other and understand the various opportunities for trade and commerce in the region. The delegation returned to India after a short but successful business trip from China on the 4th of November 2016.

MoU Signing with NHPC Limited:

Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) & NHPC Limited signed MoU on 19-10-2016.

Placement linked Skill development training programme in the construction industry where target beneficiaries will be from the vicinity of NHPC projects areas or any other areas as suggested by NHPC within India. CIDC shall source candidates for training from the following areas. In the event of not meeting the required numbers of trainees i.e. 1000 from above areas NHPC shall be at liberty to add other districts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim & Manipur.

Counselling was carried out by Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) for National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd (NHPC) to identify the beneficiaries (potential candidates) from PAFs (Project Affected Families) & socially / economically challenged unemployed youth hailing from the two districts adjoining to Itanagar & Roing, Arunachal Pradesh.

The main aim of this counselling meet was to offer support to help uplift Below Poverty Line (BPL) community by providing them training & placement assistance and enabling them to earn their livelihood.

The trades offered are Mason, Shuttering Carpenter, Barbender, Plumber, Electrician, Safety & Land Surveyor. The counselling was undertaken in the NHPC project areas of Itanagar & Roing Arunachal Pradesh to assess the need for initiating skill development program for unemployed local youth.

The counselling meets showed that a large number of unemployed youth were interested to learn the trades for income enhancement realizing that it would directly impact their family incomes & living standards.

Till date we have registered candidates from Itanagar 144 Nos. and Roing 330 nos candidates.

CIDC – Activities: GMR Audit:

A Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) audit was conducted at the DFCCIL site for GMR at UP (Section Kanpur - Allahabad - Varanasi) as of Nov 7th- 11th and Nov 21st - 26th. GMR voluntarily submitted to this audit which is a demonstration of their commitment to SHE. The audit was conducted by Mr. B R Chauhan and Mr. P K Mishra serving as senior auditors with Mr. Manoj Chauhan and Mr. Samwail Siddiqui in attendance. Upon completion of the audit a report was submitted to GMR detailing their scoring based on the CIDC SHE Audit form along with recommendations for implementing some improvements. Receptionist.

GMR Training:

As part of their CSR initiative GMR is conducting on-site skill based training of artisans at their DFCCIL site in UP for the corridor between Kanpur - Allahabad and Varanasi. They are providing local unemployed youth with a skill that allows them to become employable and better their lives. CIDC is assisting GMR in this initiative by providing technical expertise for skilling as well as advise on the execution of such programs since we are the largest and oldest provider of construction skill training in the country. Our trainers are deputed full time at their training center in UP where students are provided both theoretical and practical training, this training is conducted within a working site such that students get a flavour of how work is executed in the real world. The program was initiated on Nov 3rd by Dr. Shuchita Kumar and Mr. P K Mishra and the GMR site office in Mirzapur, UP. The first batch will soon be graduating and hopefully will be adsorbed by GMR's own contractors working at the site.

Vishwakarma Tritiya Dhaulana Training Centre:

The existing training is being conducted at Deeg (Bharatpur), Khurda (Odisha), Faridabad, Ongole (A.P.), Vizainagaram (A.P.), Dilsukhnagar (Hyderabad), Ghaziabad, Daltonganj (Jharkhand), Srikakulam (A.P.) & Janoothar (Bharatpur) centers.

Under CIDC – Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFCL) training program 2000 No’s of candidates to be trained. Under this training program 979 No’s of candidates are undergoing training at different CIDC training centers at Sidhauli, Ramshapur, Dhaulana, Gorakhpur, Ranchi, Daltonganj, Faridabad, Bheemili, Khurda, Srikakulam and Chapaguri.

CIDC – Activities: Airports Authority of India:

The first & second batch of 540 students are undergoing training at different categories under the “Employment Oriented Training and skill development Programme for Unemployed youth /SC/ST/OBC Women & EWS of Society for 2000 persons under AAI CSR initiatives”.

The existing training is being conducted at Deeg (Bharatpur), Khurda (Odisha), Faridabad, Ongole (A.P.), Vizainagaram (A.P.), Dilsukhnagar (Hyderabad), Ghaziabad, Daltonganj (Jharkhand), Srikakulam (A.P.) & Janoothar (Bharatpur) centers.

The trainees are being provided class room training (20%) practical sessions (80%). Besides they are encouraged to take part in extra – curricular activities, weekly puja & celebrations. Newspaper reading sessions & Morning Yoga are other activities in which students partake enthusiastically.

CIDC – Activities:

CIDC Chennai Training centre:

CIDC Chennai Centre has completed 50% of the total number of 3000 allotted to be trained for Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation. Skill training was imparted in the trades of Mason, Bar bender, Tiler, Painter, Plumber and Electrician. Training took place in various Districts of Tamil Nadu such as Dharmapuri, Salem, Cuddalore, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Thiruvannamalai, Thiruvarur to name a few. This target could be achieved with the eminent support by the trainers despite hardships in mobilising the candidates. We look forward to complete the remaining numbers in the coming months.

The residential project of ‘The Tamilnadu Academy of Construction’ is delayed due to the sudden demise of the Chief Minister of the State Ms. J. Jayalalithaa who had announced the partnership of CIDC vide G.O. date 20th Sept.2016. However, the preliminary process for TAC is expected to resume soon.
