About LGC Standards LGC is a global leader in the production and distribution of reference materials.
Procedures used in our manufacturing facilities are accredited under ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO Guide 34, guaranteeing that our reference standards are produced to a high quality.
LGC are also a leading provider of Proficiency testing, which alongside reference materials enable laboratories to monitor the quality of their analytical results.
Partnerships with other key specialist suppliers enable us to provide you with a comprehensive range of certified reference materials, matrix materials and quality control materials to meet your requirements.
Veterinary residuesVeterinary medicines are essential for farming and for animal welfare to help prevent or cure disease; however their use can leave residues in food. Animal products may also contain residues of pesticides and other environmental contaminants. Therefore, countries implement residue monitoring plans to detect the illegal use or misuse of authorised veterinary medicines in food producing animals.
The EU Directive 96/23/EC sets out the requirements for residue monitoring plans and establishes the range of substances to be tested. Non-EU countries exporting food to the EU must implement monitoring programs which comply with equivalent food safety levels and therefore these substances are often tested globally.
LGC provides a comprehensive range of high quality reference standards, matrix materials and proficiency testing schemes, to give you the tools you need in veterinary residues analysis.
Our Dr. Ehrenstorfer range includes approximately 1000 pharmaceutical and veterinary compounds. Stable isotope labelled compounds are also available and can be added to samples to negate “matrix effects”, often observed with mass spectrometric techniques such as LC-MSMS.
A range of commonly tested compounds are listed here together with a list of example products available from LGC Standards. In many cases additional products are available in different formats, so please enquire if this product does not meet your exact requirements.
Looking for pre-prepared solutions and mixtures, but can’t find what you need?
LGC offers a customised standard preparation service (for both individual compounds and mixtures), providing a cost effective solution to meet customer specific requirements

Commonly tested compounds - 96/23/EC Annex 1 Group AThe table below lists example products for compounds that are covered by 96/23/EC Annex 1 Group A. Products have been grouped by compound sub-class and where stable isotope analogues are available they have been listed at the end of each sub-class section.

Commonly tested compounds - 96/23/EC Annex 1 Group BThe table below lists example products for compounds that are covered by 96/23/EC Annex 1 Group B. Products have been grouped by compound sub-class and where stable isotope analogues are available they have been listed at the end of each sub-class section.
Products for the following subclasses within “B3 - other substances and environmental contaminants” have not been listed here:
Group B3a – Organochlorine compounds including PCBs Group B3b – Organophosphorus compounds
The Dr Ehrenstorfer pesticide and contaminant range includes over 3000 products including organochlorines, PCBs and organophosphorus compounds. Please see our website www.lgcstandards.com or the Dr. Ehrenstorfer catalogue for full product details and more information.
Products for the Group B3c – Chemical elements subclass can be found in LGC’s VHG aqueous inorganic standards range, which includes single element and multi element standards, prepared in our ISO Guide 34 facility and assayed using NIST HP-ICP-AES methodology. Please see our website www.lgcstandards.com or VHG catalogue for full product details and more information.
