HistorySoon after starting, Uralmashzavod began manufacture of press-forging plant. In 1936, the first forging press was built for Khabarovsky metallurgists. Up to 1941, all metallurgical works, being created in the Ural and Siberia, including the biggest in the country Novokuznetsky and Magnitogorsky integrated steel-and-iron works, were equipped with the presses built by Uralmashzavod.
The presses built by Uralmashzavod were also used in the aircraft industry.
During World War II, Uralmashzavod pressed the turrets for the famous tanks T-34 at the press of 10000 tf.
In fifties, Uralmashzavod became the main supplier of the modern heavy hydraulic presses for aircraft and missile works.
In 1955, the first pipe bending machine was created for the Belgorodsky metallurgists.
In the late eighties, 100% solid-rolled wheels of the railway vehicles in the USSR were produced at the equipment of Uralmashzavod.
Since 1953, Uralmashzavod has begun to supply its products abroad.
The press-forging plant was supplied to the enterprises of Poland, China, Hungary, India, Rumania, Finland, Iran, Serbia, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia.
The scope of supplies for 75 years, namely, 200 horizontal and vertical presses, and pipe bending machines for domestic and foreign enterprises, is evidence of great experience acquired by the works in creation of the press-forging plant.
For the last ten years, the specialists of Uralmash Machine Building Corporation modernized many presses being in operation.
Simultaneously, new machines are built, with the help of which the final product, being superior in consuming qualities to those existing in the world practice, is produced.

Is the unit of the processing line for grinding of Zr-sponge blocks
Vertical press
Four-column press
Inverted ram press
Accumulator station drive
Frame and architrave are joined together by columns
Mobile traverse moves along spacer plate
Manipulator for incremental controlled feed of sponge blocks, which positions the blocks under the blades and removes the block remainder from under the press.
The slicing of blocks starts from the bottom layer, which has the highest density; then the slicing speed is increased (3 times as high as the starting speed), however, the overheating of sponge is avoided.
The cutting edge is stepped, therefore each layer is divided into several parts. The blades are made of high-strength materials.
Disappearing stop creating the necessary conditions for grinding the block remainder.
Drive – individual oil station
Working pressure – 25 MPa
Quantity of working cylinders – 2
Cutting force (max) – 8 MN
Work stroke speed – 3…26 mm/s
Idle stroke speed (max) – 810 mm/s
Thickness of slices – 7…25 mm
