The Lion’s Roar August 18, 2017 Welcome! To all of our new and returning students, our faculty, staff and Board are blessed to play a vital role in the lives of our VCS students and families. We have worked hard over the summer to prepare for the 2017-2018 school year and are blessed to have all of our staff in place to start the year. We will continue to serve our families and welcome your input regarding your child's spiritual and academic growth. Please start with the teacher regarding any concerns that you may have and I am readily available to assist with any unresolved issues. All of our families need to sign up for the 20 required volunteer hours. You may find the sign-up sheets in the main office. The school, staff and students benefit greatly as our parents become involved in the life of the school. On that note, we need several parents to help with our Parent Teacher Fellowship projects. Our PTF serves the school in many ways and we would love to hear from you. Please contact the office for more information. Thank you for your continued support of Venice Christian School. We are blessed to report that we have a record enrollment, and we pray that you have a great start to the new school year! Are you looking for an opportunity to fill your 20 hours of volunteertime? There is always a need for extra hands in the library to helpshelve books. Do NOT be intimidated by the thought of Dewey and hisdecimal system - If you can count, and know the alphabet, you canhelp with this!

Can you stay for an hour after drop off on a Tuesday? Can you come an hour earlybefore pickup on a Monday or a Friday? If you are interested in helping, pleasecontact Mrs. Alkema for more information at [email protected].

THE LIBRARY NEEDS YOUR HELP

If your children have left personal items behind at school, chances are theyare in our Lost and Found!

Our Lost and Found is located in the hallway outside of Room 102 in themain office building. (If you have lost items out at the gymnasium or onthe soccer field, Mrs. Ross will have those in her office in the Gym.)

Please be sure to take the time to label yourchild’s water bottles, lunch boxes, bags andjackets. This way, if the items do get lost theycan more easily be reunited with students.

Every year, VCS provides students with the opportunity to have pizza on Friday ifthey so choose. All pizza is pre-paid for the year and forms will be going home withyour student next week. Our first Pizza Friday will be on Sept. 8th.

Our school collects Box Tops to earn money! Box Tops are the littlepink squares you see on many of the products you already buy! Just cuton the dotted line and put them in a bag labeled with your child'sgrade or teacher. Each classroom has a designated collection box forthese items, so you can bring them in whenever you like.

Box Tops are collected all year long, and contests are held seasonallywith cool parties for the winning classes!

If you have any questions, or would like to help, please contactKristin Parks at 941-223-7759.
