Conclusions
• Nathan Lagamayo– Being ready is the main factor of stopping or
even preventing any disaster. The government and its citizens should work hand in hand to avert any disaster. It is very important that we have a back-up plan for everything, even a back-up plan has a back-up plan. Our actions should be precise and very careful so that the effects of these actions are pleasing. We should exercise these actions so that the government can see that this can work.
• Andrea Dimaculangan– Mandaluyong City is located at the center of
Metro Manila and is also known as the “Tiger City”. The location of this city is one of its strengths. Since it’s in the center of the metro it is very easy for people to travel to other cities nearby. Though its location can be an advantage it also has its weaknesses. (cont.)
• The number of the illegal settlers in this part of the metro grew considerably during the past 30 years and it has been an issue for a lot of the original residences. Given the fact that Mandaluyong is already a flood prone area, its illegal settlers spreads the waste buildup that causes more floods in the different areas of the city. (cont.)
• One approach that can remedy this issue is for the city officials to provide proper and legal housing for its residents as well as for them to conduct seminars that would help the people understand the dangers that could jeopardize their safety.
• Marinelle Bartolome– All I can say is that without PCVA, we cannot
really determine and get ready enough for the upcoming disasters. PCVA helps people to be ready and to be knowledgeable with disasters and also to prevent worst case scenarios. We can show the government
• Amari Batalla– The places with lots of trees and plants are not
as prone to floods as those that have few. Those communities with lots of money and good citizens living on it, can or may lessen possible damage caused by future calamities.
• Patrick Lansang– First, we must volunteer our time. We must
work on important issues so our local government will notice the certain problem of our government. Second, we must know certain solutions and precautions for our community, we must be always prepared. Third, reach out to anyone who needs help. And lastly, we should be environmental friendly because everything starts with us. These can show the government that we can help them on upcoming disasters.
• Julius Tolop– The Marikina community has well-ordered
citizens thus it helps the government to easily implement their projects. The governance of Marikina should be high on standards as well as the urban planning for us to have a well organized community.
• Lyzette Visco– The seminar gave us the idea that our country is
very prone to disasters. Hence this, our government made plan to ensure its people’s safety. We, the citizens, should be always aware of every actions and or future actions of our government so that we can practice these.
