, eighteen Plainville High School art

2014-2015 school year. Approximately 70 Western
Kansas schools participated in the exhibition. PHS
students winning awards were: Tonya Widner,

Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art.
Plainville High School Mr. Ditter’s Classes
By Kyle Fox, Student Teacher
This semester I’ve had the pleasure of student
teaching under Mr. Ditter. In the spring of 2013 I
visited Plainville High School to complete some
observation hours to satisfy my Early Field
Experience credit hour. After completing 20
observation hours and hearing “Ditter stories” from
alumni I always kept Plainville in mind for when
the time came to request a school to student teach.
Two years have come and gone and Mr. Ditter was
gracious enough to welcome me back into his
classroom for the semester. I’m back in Plainville
completing my student teaching before I graduate
on May 15th
. My last day will be on May 5th
and
will conclude the four month journey which seems
as if it begun just last week.
My experience kicked off on January 5th
and for
the subsequent weeks I was just trying to familiarize
myself with everyone and settle into a routine. My
experience is unique in that I have had the
opportunity to observe and be part of the Cardinal
Page 4
Creations business downtown. The applied business
class is the last step in a career and technical
education pathway that gives students hands-on
experience and an idea of what they may or may not
want to pursue after high school. I believe this gives
Plainville students an advantage over other high
school students. After observing Mr. Ditter for a
couple weeks I put my own teaching styles/methods
into play with his Computer Applications courses.
The next class I had the opportunity to teach was
the Entrepreneurship class which gives students the
background to apply skills to business. I look
forward to beginning my own teaching journey and
utilizing my experience here.
