Part 2 - Simplified Strategy

The IWCM process consists of two main parts:

Part 1: An Evaluation Study ( recently completed); and

Part 2: A Strategy ( this study).

The study listed all utility and urban water service targets and then identified the issues relating to planning and delivery for water supply, sewerage and stormwater over the next 30 years.

The Simplified Strategy

The Evaluation Study has found that there are IWCM issues needing actions which are not part of the Council’s adopted “business as usual” plans and actions.

A Simplified Strategy is undertaken where these outstanding issues can be addressed without the need for significant capital works within the next 10 years.

Council adopted recommendations of the Uralla Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Organic Removal Strategy 2006 by Hunter Water Aust. and upgraded the dosing system at the plant as a first step to remove taste and odour compounds and toxins.

One other recommendation of the strategy to implement a detailed monitoring programme was partly implemented. Council should use the outcomes of the programme to date to assess plant performance and then review the benefits of continuing with the programme.
