MASTER OF APPLIED LINGUISTICS This postgraduate coursework program offers study in the fields of Applied Linguistics and TESOL. It provides a quality, professional development program for teachers of English and other second languages, as well as for language professionals in translation, interpretation and other second language areas. Offering a range of courses in the linguistic, psychological, educational and socio-cultural aspects of language learning and use, and in language teaching methodology, this program enables you to develop an understanding of current trends and future directions in the field. As a student you will also have the opportunity to explore research options and develop specialisations for further research.

WHAT YOU STUDY Students enrol in either the Applied Linguistics or Applied Linguistics (TESOL) stream. Courses are designed to provide professional development and the opportunity to develop teaching and research skills for further study. Graduates of the Applied Linguistics program typically work in language teaching and learning areas. Postgraduate coursework degrees are highly regarded in many areas in the public and private sectors. Applied Linguistics at UQ offers a suite of postgraduate programs (including a Graduate Certificate and a Graduate Diploma).
