SUNSHINE COMMITTEE INFORMATION

The purpose of the Sunshine committee is to keep our community informed of residents who could use a little sunshine by receiving a card. All residents need to do, is to call our “Sunshine Lady” Mary Leh. Tell her who would like a card from our community. Mary can send get well, hospital, sympathy, or thinking of you cards. She will then send your request-ed card ASAP. Please note that the sunshine card listings requested by phone will go in the next month’s newsletter if called by the 15th . Those calls received after the 15th will appear in the following month’s newsletter because of the publisher’s deadline of the 15th . If you would like to see a more current update, you can check the Yellow Sunshine List hanging on the bulletin board in the Lakeview Activity room. PLEASE DO NOT WRITE YOUR REQUEST ON THE YELLOW SUNSHINE LIST! If you write your request on the yellow list it may not be sent in a timely manner. YOU MUST CALL MARY PERSONNALY TO HAVE A CARD SENT. We want to thank Margo McKain, who is stepping down from the committee. She graciously headed up our Sunshine Committee for many years. Wa┞s to Beat the Wiミteヴ Blues

Shorter daylight hours, colder temperatures, and COVID sure make it difficult to fight off the winter blues. With the Club House frequently closed with bursts of COVID outbreaks, the Arbor Gate Community Board hasn’t been planning any community events. But we are thinking about better, safer days ahead and, like you, are looking forward to planned social events and activities in the fu-ture. That doesn’t mean we aren’t trying to still maintain some sense of “normalcy” and bring neighbors together and uplift each other.

Some easy, do-it-yourself tips for fighting the winter blues include: fresh air, exercising, increasing your vitamin D levels, short walks, sunlight therapy, and a good book/movie. However, these often won’t cure our need for socialization. For ways to help with that, we are reaching out and asking you to help generate ideas, or provide feedback on some ideas the Board has generated (see below). Please email any feedback or new ideas to [email protected] or call Leigh or Dian at 717-628-8391. The Board will then try to organize a few events in February and March.

Snow Sculpture with a neighbor, friend or family in your front yard on the next snowfall. Place a coffee can with lid next to your sculpture so folks can drop in a note about your sculpture.

Send Valentine Cards to those you care about and/or wear RED February 14th!

Valentine Match Maker Game: Send your wedding photo to the above email address and we will put all the photos in the next newsletter and see how many you can match.

Side Note: Don’t forget the snow geese and Tundra swans will be migrating to Middle Creek from now through mid-March. Walk out to Willow Point and get exercise, fresh air, and sun-light to beat the blues; AND see a sight to behold as thousands of snow geese gather and fly in mesmerizing patterns.
