Resume/ Visual Resume

Rhetoric: A grammatically correct resume along with it being coherent to the employer is a vital aspect when you’re trying to get the job you want. By incorporating multiple experiences and key traits, this allows the employer to be confident in your ability to do the tasks for whatever job you’re applying for. Doing this demonstrates various qualifications that can be beneficial for insuring that I have worked hard in preparing myself rather than presenting a sloppy resume which is a major error when it comes to applying for a job.

Writing: Editing for grammatical and spelling errors gives the resume a better chance of being seriously looked at. Correcting these errors shows professionalism and gives the employer confidence that I’m able to complete a task the right way.

Design: Being consistent with font, spacing and headers is needed when presenting a resume to an employer. If the resume is too busy and wordy the employer will toss it aside. Using quick to read statements and bullet points when listing experience and summary profile. Good alignment will make the resume look more professional.

Collaboration & Applied Technology: Microsoft Word is a great tool that can be used for creating a resume. To create a visual resume using SlideDoc is better. SlideDocs are meant to be printed and handed out instead. PowerPoint's are meant for presentations, this is why SlideDoc is better suited for a visual resume.

SlideDoc is great for people to create great ideas and share them. A SlideDoc can be read more quickly than a PowerPoint or document.

Ethics & Culture: Ethical issues that can occur that should be avoided are privacy, plagiarism, race/age/gender, incorrect data and false promotion. Having an accurate resume is vital. If there’s false information such as experience or knowledge on a resume it won’t take very long before an employer figures out the truth.

Rhetoric: A common problem when a flat occurs on a vehicle is the car manual is not user friendly and can be hard to navigate. The diction used in our app allows user friendly instructions on how to change a spare tire, which is a common occurrence on the road.

Writing: The choice of words used to explain the steps in the mobile app is vital. By using easy to understand instructions it allows users to change a tire without having to wonder what a word is. Phrasing each step so that the user can easily know where every part is and what each tool is used for is very important.

Design: Having a simple main menu is important to avoid confusion. Have easy to use navigation tools such as back and forward arrows and a home button that takes the user back to the main menu.

Collaboration & Applied Technology: We faced many challenges when creating our mobile app as a group. Using the group Wiki was important so we could all stay on the same page. We used a group task sheet to spread out the work evenly and to be sure we weren't working on the same task as another group member.

Using GoogleDocs was important because it allowed us to put the mobile app together. It also allowed us to see the progress on task the other group members were working on.

Ethics & Culture: Having an app that has one language option will be an issue, so there needs to be a language option. The app also needs to be accurate. If there’s incorrect steps on the app then it becomes useless.

Usability Testing Report

Rhetoric: Based on the testimonials of our users this allowed us to enhance our app to make it more realistic. By doing so this fix the common problem of using unclear diagrams and incorporating the exact example of the truck to illuminate the gray areas. This then further draws our future users to use our app.

Writing: It’s important to use short and simple statements on the test report. Small paragraphs and bullet points makes reading the methods used, test objectives and results & findings easy.

Design: The test report should have a table of contents showing what will be discussed. Be consistent with bullet points. The report should also be organized.

Collaboration & Applied Technology: To design the test report we used SlideDoc. When using SlideDoc the user can read more quickly than PowerPoint. It also allowed us to divide the work up evenly.

Ethics & Culture: If the app only has one language option and a user doesn’t speak that language then that’s an issue. When running test on the app and this problem occurs it needs to be recorded and written down on the report under results and findings.

Video Presentation

Rhetoric: Using the app can still be challenging for some users who don’t have any experience on changing a tire, or just have a hard time understanding the app instructions. By recording this video presentation we were able to verbally explain and visually show how to navigate through the app and educate the user on what each of the steps mean.

Writing: Using correct grammar and spelling is vital when making the video presentation. Having correctly spelled subtitles that follow along with the audio is important for users who may not be able to hear. Editing the video presentation for incorrect spelling is needed to be sure users don’t get confused when trying to learn how to use the app.

Design: The presentation should be designed so that users are able to watch the video without being distracted by unnecessary background noise and movements. Putting the subtitles on the bottom of the screen allows the user to read and watch the steps at the same time.

Collaboration & Applied Technology: To record the video presentation we needed a software that would show the app and record audio also. We used Screen Cast to do this. It allowed us to go through the app and show the users how to correctly navigate. In the background you can hear the person running the app talking about it too.

Ethics & Culture: The video presentation needs to have subtitles. If it doesn’t then users who are deaf will not be able to watch it and understand. The subtitles need to have a language option also.

Proposal

Rhetoric: The proposal stated our credentials and professionally illustrates on how the app can not only benefit the user but the Ford Motor Company. By utilizing the proposal this helps the common issue that both parties are satisfied and not leaving out anyone, which further influences the company to use our app.

Proposal

Writing: When typing up the proposal its important to make sure the correct audience is being targeted. To impress the ford motor company the proposal needs to be organized and professional. With spelling and grammar errors in the proposal the app would not get approved by the company. Using the correct tone when writing the proposal is vital.

Design: The proposal needs to address the company, and show who it is from. Have a subject line so the company knows what they are about to read. The proposal needs to explain why the app was created and what problems it solves. Be consistent with fonts, headers and spacing. The cover page should have a picture of the product discussed.

Collaboration & Applied Technology: To create the proposal we used GoogleDocs. We were able to work on the project at the same time. We decided to divide the work into three. Once we finished the rough draft GoogleDocs allowed us to go in and edit each others work.

Ethics & Culture: Its important that the proposal doesn’t have incorrect or misleading information. The company will find out and reject the app if so. False promotion will lead to more problems too. The proposal needs to be addressed to an audience that of all genders. If the company is foreign be sure to send the proposal in multiple languages.
