Introduction

Here you need to introduce your project.

What is the aim?

Why did you choose the aim?

What was the project timescale?

Project Hypothesis

What is your project hypothesis (or hypotheses)?

Remember your hypothesis is an educated guess about how things work and what you expect to find. Your hypothesis should be what you test in your project and is therefore a testable hypothesis.

A hypothesis is often written like: "If _____[I do this] _____, then _____[this]_____ will happen."

P2: Carry out / P4: Produce

Page 12: Unit 5 research project scientific structure template

Method

Use your unit 4 work to help you write your detailed method. A useful reminder of the Unit 4 content is linked on page 2 here.

Your method should include detailed instructions. What you are going to do, how are you going to do it, who is going to do it and when key actions will be completed.

You should add relevant diagrams for any testing you do in the research project figures and tables section.

P3: Collect and record / M2: Correctly analyse & describe techniques / D1: Correctly analyse & explain techniques

Results

This page should show your results. This page should be supported by tables, charts and graphs that should be shown in the research project figures and tables section.

P3: Collect and record / M2: Correctly analyse & describe techniques / D1: Correctly analyse & explain techniques

Page 16: Unit 5 research project scientific structure template

Discussion

Here you should discuss your results.

What did you find and why? Were your findings what you expected? Did you observe any trends in your data? Did you get results that you weren’t expecting?

P2: Carry out / P4: Produce

Page 17: Unit 5 research project scientific structure template

Conclusion

Restate your aim.

Restate the key trends from your literacy review.

Do your results and discussion support your hypothesis or hypotheses? If they do why and not suggest the reasons.

P2: Carry out / P4: Produce
