To apply for a student visa at a US consulate in your home country, you must receive a Form I-20 or DS 2019 from the University of North Dakota. A Form I-20 or DS 2019 can only be issued after you show that you have sufficient funds to support yourself for the duration of your studies. What is the minimum amount I must verify? UND will provide you with an estimate of expenses for the first academic year of your degree program. This is the minimum amount of guaranteed funds that you must document in order to be issued a Form I-20 or DS 2019 and includes tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and personal expenditures (e.g. clothing, laundry, etc.). Does UND have scholarships available for international undergraduate students? Yes, the University of North Dakota offers a First Year Partial Tuition Waiver Scholarship for international undergraduate students. If you are supporting yourself with personal funds:

You must provide a letter from your bank indicating that you have the necessary funds available to support yourself. The letter must be on bank letterhead, and must be signed by a bank official indicating a specific amount of funds available.

If you are being supported by your parents and/or other sponsor:

a) The sponsor must complete and sign the attached “Statement of Financial Responsibility - Affidavit of Support” indicating that he/she agrees to provide you with the necessary funds to support your educational expenses.

AND b) The sponsor’s bank must provide a letter verifying that the necessary funds are available. The letter must be on bank

letterhead, and must be signed by a bank official indicating a specific amount of funds available. If you are being supported by a government agency, private foundation, bank credit line or other agency:

You must provide a copy of the award letter. If the loans do not completely cover the amount required for the issuance of a Form I-20 or DS 2019, the difference must be made up according to the regulations shown above.

Preliminary statement of financial support This is to certify that Marie Curie, female, born 02 June 1995, may conditionally receive NOK230 000 per academic year for studies in the USA.

Additional funding of NOK 68 216 may be allocated to students who are admitted to a university/college on the

supplementary grant scheme. Information about supplementary grant can be found at

www.lanekassen.no/supplementarygrant.

The period of study covered by this statement is from January 2017 to January 2017. The

student has to complete the course by the end of the set timeframe.

The university/college must be accredited by a regional accrediting organisation in the USA, and the

accrediting organisation must be a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation

(CHEA). Health studies (medicine, veterinary medicine, odontology, chiropractic science, physical

therapy, psychology), must be both professionally and regionally accredited.

The State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen) is a government office which administers loans and grants to

Norwegian students. Each year the Ministry of Education and Research provides the Loan Fund with detailed

regulations as to how the financial support is to be both administered and allocated. These regulations are published

in February/March and come into effect the following academic year (approx. August).

Disclaimer The financial support for the academic year is issued to the student in two portions. Transfer of the

financial support takes place in the beginning of the autumn and spring semester. When the student

has signed the student loan contract and received funding, the student is financially responsible for

any legal contracts he/she has made with the educational institution.
