OVERALL IN GAMPEL: UConn has an overall record of 159-27 (.855) at Gampel Pavilion since the building opened in 1990. The Huskies are 78-6 (.929) against non-league competition, was 76-19 (.800) against Big East opponents and are 5-2 against American Athletic Conference opponents in Gampel. The six non-conference losses came against Detriot Mercy in the 2001 NIT, Jackson St. in the 1993 NIT, Florida St. in the 1992-93 season, North Carolina St. in the 1990-91 season, Texas on Nov. 30, 2014, and Yale on Dec. 5, 2014. The 55-54 loss to Texas broke a streak of 44 straight non-conference wins in Gampel. UConn is 34-10 (.773) in Gampel over the last five seasons, plus this year (3-2). In 2013-14, the Huskies went 7-2 at Gampel. As UConn’s head coach, Kevin Ollie is 16-5 at Gampel Pavilion. Today’s game is the sixth of seven regular-season games in Gampel this season.
TRAVEL WEARY: With the end of January, UConn finished a month of extraordinary travel, including three two-game road trips. UConn played at Florida and South Florida, then at Tulsa and Stanford, then at Cincinnati and Houston. During the month, the Huskies spent a total of 19 days on the road, took 8 plane trips and a bus ride, and traveled more than 10,500 miles. Add in the first three weeks of February, which has included single-game trips to New Orleans, Dallas, and Memphis, and since Jan. 1 UConn has spent 24 days
on the road, with 14 plane trips and a bus ride, and traveled roughly 19,300 miles. The Huskies have single-game trips to Greenville, N.C., and to Philadelphia remaining on the regular-season schedule. OLLIE MILESTONE: UConn’s Jan. 6 victory over USF was the 60th of Coach Kevin Ollie’s career. Ollie, the 18th head coach in UConn’s 114-year basketball history, is the only UConn coach to compile 60 victories in just his third season at the helm. Ollie reached the milestone in 83 games, second-fastest in UConn history. Legendary coach Hugh Greer (1946-63) reached 60 victories in 81 games, albeit during his fourth year. Ollie already ranks seventh on UConn’s all-time coaching wins list.
ON THE BLOCK: As a freshman last season, Amidah Brimah became one of the leading shot blockers in the nation and he is on pace to have better stats in that category this year. With 17 blocks in his last three games, Brimah is currently averaging 3.0 blocks per game, which ranks second in the AAC and ranks 7th in the country. In conference games only, Brimah is even better, averaging 3.6 blocks per game, which leads the league. Brimah has 36 blocks in UConn’s last nine games (4.0). The 7-foot sophomore currently has 168 career blocks in 65 games (2.6).
EYE OF THE TIGERS: Despite a career-high 25 points from freshman Daniel Hamilton

and double-doubles by both Hamlton (13 rebounds) and sophomore Amida Brimah (19 p, 12 r), UConn fell to Memphis, 75-72, at the FedExForum on Feb. 19. The Huskies sliced a 15-point Memphis lead in the second half to just two, but ultimately could not catch the Tigers. In addition to Hamilton and Brimah, sophomore Rodney Purvis also scored double figures with 11.
GAMEDAY APPEARANCE: UConn ran into a hot SMU team, which had won 10 of 11 games, on the first ESPN College GameDay ever held at Moody Coliseum and bowed to the No. 25 Mustangs, 73-55. The Huskies, appearing on GameDay for the seventh time, chopped a 17-point SMU lead to 10 early in the second half, but the Mustangs regrouped and put together a strong run of their own to notch the victory. SMU’s 48.1 field goal percentage was the secon-highest allowed by UConn this season. For UConn, senior Ryan Boatright scored 19 points, his eighth consecutive double-figure game and 20th this season, while freshman Daniel Hamilton added 13 points.
DEFENSIVE GEM: UConn played its “most complete game, top to bottom,” according to Coach Kevin Ollie, as it held Tulsa to 31.5 percent shooting and just 45 points (21 below its average) in a 70-45 AAC victory on Feb. 12 at the XL Center. The Huskies scored the first 10 points of the game and never looked back as they took a 26-17 lead into halftime, then began the second half with a 17-5 run. Senior Ryan Boatright continued his outstanding all-around play with a game-high 23 points, handed out 8 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds. Sophomore Rodney Purvis had his third consecutive double-figure game with 17, while freshman Daniel Hamilton had his third double-double of the season (11 points, 11 rebounds), and sophomore Amida Brimah blocked 7 shots.
RIDING THE WAVE: UConn’s first game ever against Tulane resulted in a 62-53 triumph in Devlin Fieldhouse on Feb. 7. The Huskies took charge of a nip-and-tuck game with a 10-1 run with 5:00 to go and cruised to the finish line to collect the AAC road victory. Senior Ryan
Boatright barely missed a double-double with 18 points and a career-high 9 rebounds, as well as 5 assists. Sophomore Amida Brimah controlled the paint with a career-high 8 blocks, despite being limited by foul trouble to just 15 minutes. Sophomore Rodney Purvis added 17 points, while freshman Daniel Hamilton had 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals.
HOME COOKIN’: UConn won its fourth straight home game and snapped a two-game losing streak in the process as it rallied in the second half for a 65-52 victory over East Carolina on Feb. 4 at Gampel Pavilion. Trailing at halftime, 34-27, UConn opened the second half with a 14-0 run to take the lead. Then, after East Carolina fought back to regain the lead, the Huskies exploded on a 17-0 run to put the game away. Senior Ryan Boatright hit a career-high 7 three-pointers on his way to 23 points, while sophomore Rodney Purvis added 10 and freshman Daniel Hamilton contributed 9 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Huskies equaled their season-high of 11 made three-pointers, hitting 7 of 12 in the second half.
SWEEPING THE BULLS: Senior Ryan Boatright scored a career-high 28 points, 19 in the second half, as UConn won its second game over USF this season, a 66-53 victory on Jan. 25 at the XL Center. The Huskies were clinging to a 41-37 lead in the second half when Boatright scored 13 straight points for UConn, hiking the lead to 11 and putting the Huskies in control. Besides Boatright, UConn sophomore Rodney Purvis scored 17, while freshman Daniel Hamilton had 7 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists, and sophomore Amida Brimah blocked 5 shots.
BOMBS AWAY: UConn hit a season-high 11 three-pointers on its way to a 67-60 AAC victory over UCF on Jan. 22 in Gampel Pavilion, the Huskies’ first game in their on-campus home since Dec. 5. UConn had 10 three-pointers in the first half, four by senior Ryan Boatright and three by junior Omar Calhoun as it raced to a 36-18 lead and never trailed again. UCF cut the margin to as close as five, but five alley-oop dunks in the second half by sophomore Amida Brimah helped keep the Huskies in

THE LAST TIME ...front. Boatright led the scoring qith 18 points, with Brimah (14), Calhoun (11), and freshman Daniel Hamilton (10) also in double figures. Hamilton barely missed a double-double with nine rebounds and he also added seven assists.
BATTLE WITH THE BEARCATS: Before a sellout crowd (15,564) at the XL Center on Jan. 10, UConn and Cincinnati battled through a game that saw six lead changes and eight ties until a block by freshman Rakin Lubin that became a three-pointer by junior Omar Calhoun gave the Huskies control with 5:00 remaining in a 62-56 victory. In the final 2:00, the Huskies hit 7 of 8 free throws to seal the win. Senior Ryan Boatright had 18 points, 8 assists, and 3 steals, while Calhoun had 12 points and sophomore Rodney Purvis added 11 points. TAMPA TRIUMPH: UConn picked up its first American Athletic Conference win of the season with a 58-44 victory at USF on Jan. 6. The Huskies trailed by as many as 7 in the first half, but a late boost off the bench from junior Omar Calhoun and freshman Rakim Lubin pushed UConn to a 28-24 halftime lead. Sophomore Amida Brimah led the scoring with 13 points and also had 8 rebounds and a season-high 6 blocked shots.
FLORIDA FIRST: UConn’s first-ever trip to the O’Connell Center in Gainesville on Jan. 3 ended successfully with a 63-59 victory over Florida, the Huskies’ third win over the Ga-tors in 13 months. UConn trailed throughout the first half and fell behind by 13 early in the second stanza. With 11:11 remaining, the Huskies were down 52-41, but turned up the defense and did not allow Florida a field goal for more than 8:00. UConn took the lead, 54-53, on a three-pointer by sophomore Rod-ney Purvis, and never trailed again. Four free throws by senior Ryan Boatright and two by sophomore Terrance Samuel in the final 31 seconds sealed the win. Boatright (14) led four Huskies in double figures, fol-lowed by junior Omar Calhoun (12), Purvis (11), and Samuel (10). Sophomore Amida Brimah led the rebounding with 10, his sec-ond double-figure rebounding game of the season.

DUKE IT OUT: UConn held second-ranked Duke to its lowest point total and lowest shooting percentage of the season, but could not take full advantage, falling to the Blue Devils, 66-56, on Dec. 18 in a neutral-site battle at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, N.J. The Huskies fought back to cut Duke’s lead to six twice in the final 3:45, but got no closer. UConn senior Ryan Boatright scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down 7 rebounds and added two assists and three steals. Sophomore Kentan Facey contributed 14 points and nine rebounds and freshman Daniel Hamilton also scored 10.
CHARGE ACCOUNT: UConn junior forward Phillip Nolan leads the Huskies in drawing charging fouls this season, drawing 15 in 25 games. The Huskies have drawn 24 charges overall this year. The other UConn players to draw charges are sophomore Amida Brimah with four, senior Ryan Boatright and sophomore Terrence Samuel with two and Rodney Purvis with one.
RECORD-SETTER: Sophomore Amida Brimah set a UConn record for most field goals without a miss when he hit 13-of-13, as well as 14 of 16 free throws for 40 points in a 106-85 victory over Coppin State on Dec. 14. Brimah also grabbed 12 rebounds to complete the first double-double of his career and added 3 blocked shots. Brimah’s 40-point performance was the highest-scoring game for a Husky since Kemba Walker scored 42 against Vermont on Nov. 17, 2010. Brimah is the 11th UConn player to score at least 40 points in a game, a feat that has now been accomplished 17 times at UConn. AAC HONORS: UConn senior guard Ryan Boatright was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Feb. 9 after he aver-aged 20.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists and committed just one turnover in 75 minutes in victories over East Carolina and Tulane. It was the second such honor this season for Boatright, who was also named Player of the Week on Nov. 24, following his performance
HISTORY VS. TULANE: UConn and Tulane had never met on the basketball court until the game two weeks ago at Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans. The Huskies finally took charge of a
close battle with a 10-1 run with 5:00 remaining and went on to a 62-53 victory. UConn senior Ryan Boatright had a career-high 9 rebounds to go
with 18 points and 5 assists, while sophomore Rodney Purvis had 17 points and freshman Daniel Hamilton contributed 11 points and 8 rebounds. The American Athletic Conference rivals will meet at least once per regular-season from now on.
SCOUTING THE GREEN WAVE: Tulane has run into a rough patch lately, dropping six of its past seven games, although the lone win during that stretch was an impressive one at Cincinnati on a buzzer-beating 30-footer from sophomore Jonathan Stark. The Green Wave is led by the three-guard lineup of junior Louis Dabney, senior Jay Hook, and Stark, who combine to average 35.4 points per game. Hook is the team’s top three-point threat, with Dabney close behind. The starting big men include senior forward Tre Drye, the Green Wave’s top rebounder, and 6-11 Ryan Smith. Off the bench, Tulane has plenty of depth, led by sophomore forward Payton Henson, sophomore Dylan Osetkowski, and sophomore Josh Hearlihy as well as guards Kajon Mack and Keith Pinckney. Tulane is averaging 59.8 ppg in conference games, but has not scored over 55 points in its last seven games. The Green Wave’s defense has been solid, however, only allowing 60.0 ppg during that stretch. Tulane has a 5-3 record on the road this season, 4-2 in AAC road games with wins over East Carolina, Memphis, Houston and Cincinnati.

CONSECUTIVE GAMES: UConn sophomore Amida Brimah owns the longest current streak of games played by a UConn player with 65 straight games. Senior Ryan Boatright owns the longest consecutive starts streak with 35. ALL-TIME LIST: With 7 points against Memphis, UConn senior Ryan Boatright has 1,634 career points, and has cracked UConn’s all-time Top 15. Boatright is now No. 13 on the Huskies’ all-time scoring list. No. 12 on the list is Donyell Marshall (1991-94) with 1,648 points.
NATIONAL RECOGNITION: UConn has produced two of the last four winners of the Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award in Kemba Walker in 2011 and Shabazz Napier in 2014. The Huskies are in the running for another in 2015 as senior Ryan Boatright has been named to the watch list of 17 players for the 2015 Cousy Award. The list will be narrowed to the final 5 by early March. The winner will be presented the award on Championship Monday in Indianapolis. Boatright has also been named to the Top 20 midseason watch list for the Lute Olson Award, and the Top 30 midseason watch list for the Naismith Trophy, each presented to that organization’s pick as the nation’s top player.
HUSKIES INK TWO: The UConn men’s basketball program has re-ceived signed Letters of Intent from two incoming student-athletes, guard Jalen Adams and forward Steve Enoch. Adams is a 6-2 guard from Roxbury, Mass., who currently attends Brewster Acad-emy in Wolfeboro, N.H., while Enoch is a 6-10 forward from Norwalk, Conn., who currently attends St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Conn. Adams is a 170-pound combination guard who is consistently rated among the top 25 players in his class nationwide by most recruiting services. Enoch, a 220-pound forward, blossomed this summer while play-ing AAU to jump into the top 75 on most recruiting service lists. He transferred to St. Thomas More this year after three years at Norwalk High School. As a junior, Enoch averaged 14.4 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.4 blocks at Norwalk. “We’re very excited to have both these young men coming into our program,” UConn Coach Kevin Ollie said. “Not only are they qual-ity basketball players, but quality people and outstanding student-athletes. I know they will be great additions to our UConn family.”

Kevin OLLIEHead Coach
It took Kevin Ollie just 70 games as a collegiate head basketball coach to join the elite of the profession --- those who have won an NCAA championship.
In just his second season as the head basketball coach at the Uni-versity of Connecticut and only his fourth year in coaching since retir-ing from the NBA, Ollie firmly established himself as one of the rising young coaching stars in the college game by guiding the Huskies to a 32-8 season in 2013-14 and the NCAA title, defeating Kentucky, 60-54, in the tourney’s championship game at AT&T Stadium in Ar-
lington, Texas. On his way to guiding
UConn to their its fourth NCAA crown in the his-tory of the program, Ol-lie marched the Huskies past storied programs Saint Joseph’s, Villanova, Iowa State, Michigan State, and Florida in the tournament before the finale against Kentucky.
It would have been a dream season for any college coach, but for a coach of just 70 games, whose team was not even able to compete in the 2013 NCAA Tourna-ment because of aca-demic shortcomings of years long past, it was truly remarkable. The Huskies, who had a 12-6 mark in the new Ameri-can Athletic Conference, won eight of their last nine games, 11 of their last 13, and had a 10-4 record against ranked opponents, including two wins against Florida, the overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
With a sparkling 52-18 coaching record, Ollie’s .743 winning percent-age is the highest of any coach in UConn history who coached more than 20 games. The 32-victory season is the ninth 30-win season for the Huskies.
Ollie, 41, accepted a huge responsibility on Sept. 13, 2012, when he was named the 18th head coach in the history of UConn men’s basketball, replacing legendary Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun.
With only two seasons of coaching experience after joining Cal-houn’s staff as an assistant in 2010-2011, Ollie quickly embraced the opportunity to lead the storied UConn program.
Despite a roster depleted by transfers and early NBA entrants, Ol-lie surprised the experts by guiding the Huskies to a 20-victory season (20-10), a feat no other UConn coach had ever accomplished in his first year.
The Huskies also posted a 10-8 mark in the difficult Big East Con-ference. At season’s end, Ollie’s efforts were recognized by Collegein-sider.com, which selected him to receive its Ben Jobe National Coach

KEVIN OLLIE COACHING HISTORY
“Kevin Ollie was a game-changer for us. I think he changed the whole culture in Okla-homa City ... just his mind set, professional-ism, every single day. We all watched that, and we all wanted to be like that. It rubbed off on Russell (Westbrook), myself, Jeff Green, James Harden. Everybody who comes through now, it’s the standard that you’ve got to live up to as a Thunder player. And that started with Kevin Ollie.”

of the Year Award, given to the top Division I minority coach.
Ollie raised eyebrows with the season’s very first game, upsetting 14th-ranked Mich-igan State, 66-62, in the Armed Forces Clas-sic at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The season also included victories over ranked teams Notre Dame and Syracuse, and five wins in overtime, a school record.
Less than a dozen games into his first season as head coach, Ollie was awarded a five-year contract. Following his second season in 2013-14, he spurned interest from several NBA teams to sign another new con-tract with UConn that runs through May, 2019.
“It’s a humbling experience to be around the UConn fans and the UConn family and to know that I am their basketball coach for the foreseeable future,” Ollie said. “I’m very proud of that. UConn is a place that I love and, as I’ve told everyone throughout the season and through all the recent specula-tion, this is where my heart is. This is where I want to be.”
UConn President Susan Herbst voiced the support Ollie has earned from the university community.
“Kevin has done a remarkable job as our head coach over the past two years and also during his time as a UConn student-athlete and assistant coach,” she said. “He is a per-son of utmost character and leadership and embodies everything we stand for here at the University of Connecticut.”
Ollie’s UConn history --- which began in the fall of 1991 when he reported to school as a freshman from Los Angeles, continued through four successful seasons, including two as a Husky team captain, and resumed when he returned to join Calhoun’s coaching staff following a 13-year NBA career --- has come full circle. He may have only served two seasons as an assistant on Calhoun’s staff, but possesses a wealth of basketball knowledge after learning from some of the finest teachers to ever coach the game, in-cluding Calhoun, Chuck Daly, Don Nelson, Larry Brown, and George Karl.
“After 13 years in the NBA, Kevin’s got a PhD in basketball,” Calhoun said as he passed the torch to his former point guard. “He’s a great basketball man and an even better person. I’m very proud of him.”
The reins to the Huskies could not have been handed to anyone who wanted them more than Ollie.
“This is my dream job. I was made for this job,” Ollie said on the day he was hired. “UConn is a special place and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but right here.”
Ollie made that same decision about UConn more than 20 years ago, coming out of Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles. Playing on some of Calhoun’s finest teams during the mid-1990s, Ollie was a four-year starting point guard and a two-time captain.
He played in 124 games for the Huskies, averaging 6.7 points and 5.0 assists. A third
team All-Big East pick, his 619 assist total still ranks third on UConn’s all-time list. He graduated in 1995 with a degree in Commu-nications.
But Ollie was far more concerned with team statistics than individual ones. During his four-year UConn career, the Huskies had a record of 92-33, 51-21 in the Big East Con-ference and made three NCAA Tournament appearances. During Ollie’s last two seasons, when he served as a team captain, UConn’s record was 57-10 overall and a dazzling 32-4 in the Big East, capturing two Big East regu-lar-season championships, and reaching the NCAA Sweet 16 and Elite Eight, respectively.
Yet it was after his UConn career that Ollie was most impressive, displaying un-matched perseverance, intestinal fortitude, and a never-say- die attitude as he fought his way through years in the Continental Basketball Association and the U.S. Basket-ball League to get his chance in the NBA.
Once there, Ollie would simply not give up his dream, signing a series of 10-day and one-year contracts, dealing with trades and frustrating roster cuts.
Yet Ollie would not be deterred, earning a reputation throughout the league as an out-standing teammate, with strong moral fiber, impeccable character, and a vast knowledge of the game. His perseverance finally paid off with a multi-year contract from the Cleve-land Cavaliers. Ollie had been brought to Cleveland to mentor a young LeBron James about acting as a professional and Oklahoma
City brought Ollie in to do the same for Kevin Durant. During a 13-year NBA career, Ollie played for 11 different franchises in 12 cities and learned from 15 different NBA coaches. It was apparent that Ollie would eventually become a coach.
“Kevin Ollie was a game-changer for us,” Durant, the 2013-14 NBA Most Valu-able Player, said when asked about the Thunder’s philosophy. “He might not say it, but I think he changed the whole culture in Oklahoma City ... just his mind set, profes-sionalism, every single day. We all watched that, and we all wanted to be like that. It rubbed off on Russell (Westbrook), myself, Jeff Green, James Harden. Everybody who comes through now, it’s the standard that you’ve got to live up to as a Thunder player. And that started with Kevin Ollie.”
Ollie couldn’t have had a more successful debut season to his coaching career than in 2010-11, as he helped guard Kemba Walker produce one of the most spectacular indi-vidual seasons in UConn history in leading the Huskies to the program’s third national championship. The 2011-12 season culmi-nated in another NCAA appearance and an-other UConn guard, Jeremy Lamb, drafted as an NBA lottery selection. This past season, Ollie clearly enhanced his reputation as a teacher, molding point guard Shabazz Napier into a consensus first team All-American and the leader of the NCAA national champions.
“Kevin Ollie epitomizes what we want a UConn athlete, a UConn student, to be all about. When you say that about somebody, that’s heavy stuff,” Calhoun said. “Any fox hole you need to jump in, there’s your guy. Anytime you need a person who won’t quit, there’s your guy.”
Born in Dallas on Dec. 27, 1972, and raised in Los Angeles, Ollie resides in Glastonbury with wife Stephanie, who is also a UConn grad (1997), and their two chil-dren, son Jalen (born 6/22/96) and daughter Cheyanne (born 2/6/01).
