OVERALL IN GAMPEL: UConn has an overall record of 167-29 (.852) at Gampel Pavilion since the building opened in 1990. The Huskies are 82-7 (.921) against non-league competition, were 76-19 (.800) against Big East opponents and are 9-3 (.750) against American Athletic Conference opponents in Gampel. The seven non-conference losses came against Detriot Mercy in the 2001 NIT, Jackson St. in the 1993 NIT, Florida St. in the 1992-93 season, North Carolina St. in the 1990-91 season, Texas on Nov. 30, 2014, Yale on Dec. 5, 2014, and Arizona State in the 2015 NIT. The 55-54 loss to Texas broke a streak of 44 straight non-conference wins in Gampel. UConn is 42-12 (.778) in Gampel over the last six seasons, plus this year (7-0). As UConn’s head coach, Kevin Ollie is 24-7 (.774) at Gampel Pavilion. Today’s game is the eighth of nine regular-season games in Gampel this season.
CONFERENCE PLAY: In 2-plus seasons in in the American Athletic Confernce, UConn has a 31-20 record (.608) in regular-season league play. In 34 seasons in the Big East Conference, the Huskies had a 325-233 re-cord (.582) in regular-season play.
NON-CONFERENCE PLAY: UConn’s 68-62
victory over Georgetown on Jan. 23 completed the Huskies’ 2015-16 regular-season non-conference schedule with a 10-3 record. The Huskies went 8-0 at home in the non-conference schedule. Under Coach Kevin Ollie, UConn has posted a record of 39-11 (.780) in regular-season non-conference games.
DEFENSIVE PRESSURE: Through 28 games this season, UConn has held 20 opposing teams to a field goal percentage of under 40.0 percent, including 12 of its last 15 games. For the season, UConn has held opponents to a 37.4 field goal percentage, third in the country (through games of Feb. 25). To find a UConn team that had a better field goal percentage defense, you would have to go back to the 2006-07 Huskies, who held opponents to 37.1 percent for the season. UConn is currently holding opponents to a 32.4 field goal percentage from three-point range, its lowest since the 2008-09 Huskies held opponents to 30.4 percent from three-point range. In American Athletic Conference play, UConn is holding opponents to an even lower 36.7 percent overall, which leads the AAC, and 34.6 percent from three-point range.

second in the country (as of Feb. 25), behind only Villanova’s .782. To find a UConn team that shot better from the line, however, isn’t a long search. UConn’s 2013-14 National Championship team shot .777 from the foul line. The UConn record for best team foul shooting percentage is held by the 1980-81 Huskies, who shot .782 and led the nation.
COACHING IN THE FAST LANE: UConn’s win over Tulsa on February 13 was the 90th career coaching victory for fourth-year head coach Kevin Ollie, making him the second-fastest coach in UConn history to reach 90 wins. Legendary coach Hugh Greer (1946-63) won 90 games in only 116 games coached. Ollie’s 90th win came in his 130th game at the helm. Now with 92 wins, he currently ranks sixth on the all-time UConn coaching wins list.
ANOTHER 20: UConn’s win over USF on Feb. 25 was the Huskies’ 20th of the season, clinching the fourth consecutive 20-win season under four-year Coach Kevin Ollie. Overall, it is the sixth straight 20-win season for UConn, and the 17th 20-win season in the last 19 years for the Huskies.
TOP 25: UConn is among “Others receiving votes” in the AP Top 25 poll released on Feb. 22. the Huskies are not in the USA Today Coaches poll released on Feb. 22. UConn had been ranked among the Top 25 in both polls for the first three weeks of the season, was No. 25 in the AP Top 25 the week of Dec. 7, and was No. 23 in the AP Top 25 and No. 24 in the USA Today Poll the week of Jan. 4. The longest consecutive streak for UConn to be ranked in the Top 25 is 77 straight weeks, a span from November, 1997 through January, 2001. Five of UConn’s 2015-16 opponents appear in the Top 25 or “Others receiving votes.” Consecutive Weeks in the AP PollStreak ------------------------------Dates1. 77 weeks-------Nov., 1997-Jan., 20012. 67 weeks ----March, 2003-Jan., 20073. 51 weeks ----Dec., 1993-March, 19964. 36 weeks ------Feb., 2008-Jan., 20105. 28 weeks----- -Nov., 2010-Jan., 2012
THREE-POINT STREAK: UConn hit nine three-pointers in its last game against USF, extending its streak of hitting at least one three-pointer to 237 consecutive games, a streak that dates back more than six years. The last game in which the Huskies failed to make a three-pointer occurred on Nov. 27, 2009, during a 68-59 loss to Duke in the championship game of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden in New York City. UConn was 0-for-4 from three-point range in that game.
BRIMAH’S BACK: UConn junior Amida Brimah returned to game action on Sunday, Jan. 31, at UCF after missing 11 games while recuperating from surgery to repair the middle finger on his right hand, broken during practice on Dec. 21. Brimah currently has a .667 career
field goal percentage, the highest in UConn history. Brimah set the single-season school record of .674 last season and is shooting at an even-better .686 clip through UConn’s 28 games this season. The percentage would rank third in the country (as of Feb. 25) if Brimah had enough games played to qualify. The junior center also had two blocked shots against USF, giving him 43 for the season and 256 for his career, enough for sole possession of third place on UConn’s all-time list.
TRIPLE-DOUBLES: UConn sophomore Daniel Hamilton recorded the 11th triple-double in UConn history on Dec. 23 when he scored 11 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and handed out 11 assists in a 99-52 win over Central Connecticut. The 11 triple-doubles have come from 10 different players, with Shabazz Napier accomplishing the feat twice. Facey and Hamilton join grad student Shonn Miller as Huskies who have recorded a double-double so far this season. As far as career double-doubles, Miller has 19 (18 during his three years at Cornell), Hamilton has 10, junior Amida Brimah has two, Facey has two and grad student Sterling Gibbs has one (while at Seton Hall).

LAST TIME OUT: UConn set a few American Conference team records in a dominating 81-51 triumph over USF on Feb. 25 in Tampa. The Huskies shot their highest field goal percentage (.571) ever in an AAC game. They allowed the fewest points in a half, as they raced to a 28-13 halftime lead and they also scored the most points in a half with a 53-point performance in the second half. UConn opened the second half with a 15-3 run to increase the margin to 43-16 and never looked back. TIGHT FIGHT, AS USUAL: For the seventh time in the last eight games between UConn and Cincinnati, the game was decided by six points or less, as the Huskies fell to the Bearcats, 65-60, on Feb. 20 at Fifth Third Arena. UConn sliced a 14-point, second-half deficit to as little as three, but could never quite catch Cincinnati. Freshman guard Jalen Adams was a bright spot for UConn with a career-high 19 points and 5 rebounds, while junior Rodney Purvis scored 16, and grad Sterling Gibbs contributed 10.
NATIONALLY-RANKED WIN: Led by a solid performance at both ends of the court by junior Amida Brimah, UConn defeated nationally-ranked SMU, 68-62, on Feb. 18 before a sellout crowd at the XL Center. The Huskies’ center had his finest game of the season, scoring 16 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and blocking 5 shots. sliced it to 64-62 with 1:13 left. But sophomore Daniel Hamilton canned a jumper to give the Huskies some breathing room and the Huskies’ held SMU scoreless the rest of the way. Besides Brimah, Hamilton had 14 points and grad Shonn Miller added 12.
GETTING EVEN: UConn gained revenge for a loss at Tulsa earlier this season with a 75-73 triumph over the Golden Hurricane on Feb. 13 at Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies used a balanced scoring attack to build a 13-point halftime lead and stretched the margin to 46-26 early in the second half. But Tulsa roared

back with some long range shooting, cutting UConn’s lead to 67-64 with 1:40 remaining. But a crucial offensive rebound by freshman Jalen Adams led to a basket by junior Rodney Purvis and the Huskies hit free throws the rest of the way to secure the win. Sophmore Daniel Hamilton had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Omar Calhoun and grad Sterling Gibbs had 14 points apiece, Purvis contributed 11, and grad Shonn Miller added 10.
HANDLING THE HOYAS: Before a sellout (15,564) crowd at the XL Center on Jan. 23, UConn overcame some second-half shooting woes to defeat former Big East Conference rival Georgetown, 68-62. After taking a 40-33 halftime lead, the Huskies made only four field goals in the second half, but attacked the basket and hit 20 of 25 free throws and played outstanding defense to stay in the game. Georgetown took a 62-60 lead with 4:32 remaining, but would not score again. Two free throws by senior Phil Nolan
gave UConn the lead for good, 63-62, with 2:44 to go and the Huskies wouldn’t give up a point the rest of the way. Junior Rodney Purvis led all scorers with 17 points, while grads Sterling Gibbs and Shonn Miller added 16 and 15 points, respectively and soph Daniel Hamilton contributed 11 points and 8 rebounds.
LONE STAR VICTORY: UConn won its first road game of the season, notching a hard-fought 71-66 triumph at Texas on Dec. 29. The Huskies fell behind, 53-52, with 8:18 remaining, but junior Rodney Purvis led an 11-2 run that put UConn in front for good, 63-55. Clutch foul shots by grad Sterling Gibbs and soph Daniel Hamilton in the final 30 seconds sealed the win. Purvis led four double-figure scorers with 16 points, while grad Shonn Miller and Hamilton had 13 and Gibbs added 12. The Huskies held the Longhornms to 39.0 percent shooting and outrebounded Texas, 36-34.
BIG OVER BUCKEYES: UConn broke out of the gate fast, put together its best first half of the season, and finished strong as it dominated Ohio State, 75-55, on Dec. 12 at Gampel Pavilion.
UConn never trailed, taking a 17-13 lead to 32-18 to 45-24 at halftime. A second-half shooting slump by UConn allowed Ohio State within 12 in the second half, but the Huskies regrouped to to hit 12 of their last 13 shots to win going away. Five Huskies hit double figures, led by senior Omar Calhoun (14), who was a perfect 5-for-5, four of them three-pointers. Junior Rodney Purvis added 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists, while grad Shonn Miller, junior Amida Brimah and freshman Jalen Adams each scored 11.
AAC HONORS: UConn sophomore Daniel Hamilton was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week and freshman Jalen Adams was named AAC Rookie of the Week as the Huskies swept the league honors announced on Feb. 8. It is the sixth time that teammates have swept the weekly honors, the third such sweep by UConn. In UConn’s wins over Memphis (Feb. 4) and East Carolina (Feb. 7), Hamilton had back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 14.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists. Hamilton was also named the Player of the Week on Dec. 28, following his triple-double performance in the
UCONN-HOUSTON HISTORY
The history between UConn and Houston dates back to 1999, but they only met twice before becoming American Athletic Con-
ference rivals in 2013-14. UConn won both of those first two meet-ings -- a single game in Houston in 1999-2000 and the return game in Gampel Pavilion in 2000-2001. Since they have become confer-ence cololeagues, they have evenly split four games. They each won at home in 2013-14, while Houston took the only meeting last year,
which was played at Hofheinz Pavilion. UConn took the initial meeting this year in Hofheinz on Jan. 17, rallying from an eight-point deficit with 13:00 to go for a 69-57 victory. It was the first home loss for the Cougars this year. Guard Sterling Gibbs topped UConn with 20 points, while Daniel Hamilton and Shonn Miller each added 14. Today’s game will mark Houston’s third trip to Gampel Pavilion and the Cougars have yet to win, bowing 72-60 on 11/30/2000 and 80-43 on 1/30/14.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS Since suffering through a mid-season lull during which they lost four straight games, the Cougars have gained a second wind, win-ning seven of their last nine games and upping their conference win total to 10, their most in the three-year history of the AAC. They have already earned a bye to the quarterfinals of the AAC Championship. Houston, which uses a nine-man rotation, is led by top-scoring guard Rob Gray Jr. (17.1), who usually comes off the bench. The starting guards include Damyean Dotson (13.6 ppg, top rebounder at 6.6 rpg), Galen Robinson Jr. (7.9 ppg, 3.5 apg) and senior LeRon Barnes (6.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg). Gray and Dotson have taken half the team’s total three-point attempts. Up front, the Cougars start senior forward Devonta Polland (13.9 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and junior forward Bertrand Nkali (1.5 ppg, 2.2 rpg). Houston uses plenty of depth, however, starting with veteran junior forward Danrad Knowles (6.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg), junior guard Ronnie Johnson (9.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg) and junior center Kyle Meyer (2.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg).
Houston is the top-scoring team in the AAC, averaging 74.5 ppg in league games and it is second behind only SMU in field goal percentage (.462) and three-point field goal percentage (.367). Overall, Houston is outscoring opponents by 9.4 ppg and out-rebounding them by 3.5 rpg. The Cougars are shooting a solid .468 as a team overall and .348 from three-point range. On the road, the Cougars are 5-4 this season, 5-3 in AAC road games, and they are riding a two-game road winning streak.

Kevin OLLIEHead Coach
4th year as HC; 6th year at UConnIn just three seasons as UConn’s
head coach, following two years as an assistsnt under Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun, UConn head coach Kevin Ollie has already experienced a long career’s worth of ups and downs --- including the ultimate high of the college basketball coaching profes-sion, the 2014 NCAA National Cham-pionship.
His teams have never won less than 20 games, while posting two perfect APR scores of 1,000. His career re-cord of 72-33 (.686) already has him tied for sixth place on UConn’s all-time coaching wins list.
The 2014-15 season was full of ups and downs as well, culmination in a 20-15 record and a bid to the national Invi-tation Tourna-ment. Along the way, the Hus-kies had wins over top AAC teams SMU, Tul-sa and Cincin-nati and a thrill ride through the AAC postseason tournament that ended in the cham-pionship game, where they bowed to SMU.
At 43, Ollie is considered one of the bright, rising stars in the college basketball coaching world.
It took Ollie just 70 games to join the elite of the profession --- those who have won an NCAA champion-ship.
In just his second season as UCo-
nn’s head basketball coach and only his fourth year in coaching since retir-ing from the NBA, Ollie firmly estab-lished himself in the college game by guiding the Huskies to a 32-8 season in 2013-14 and the NCAA title, defeat-ing Kentucky, 60-54, in the tourney’s championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
On his way to guiding UConn to their its fourth NCAA crown in the
history of the program, Ol-lie marched the Huskies past storied pro-grams Saint Jo-seph’s, Villano-va, Iowa State, Michigan State, and Florida in the tournament before the finale against Ken-tucky.
It would have been a dream season for any col-lege coach, but for a coach of just 70 games, whose team was not even able to com-pete in the 2013 NCAA Tourna-ment because of academic shortcomings of years long past,
it was truly remarkable. The Huskies, who had a 12-6 mark in the new American Athletic Conference, won eight of their last nine games, 11 of their last 13, and had a 10-4 record against ranked opponents, including two wins against Florida, the overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Ollie accepted a huge responsibil-ity on Sept. 13, 2012, when he was named the 18th head coach in the

history of UConn men’s basketball. Despite a roster depleted by trans-
fers and early NBA entrants, Ollie sur-prised the experts by guiding the Hus-kies to a 20-victory season (20-10), a feat no other UConn coach had ever ac-complished in his first year.
At season’s end, Ollie’s efforts were recognized by Collegeinsider.com, which selected him to receive its Ben Jobe Na-tional Coach of the Year Award, given to the top Division I minority coach.
Less than a dozen games into his first season as head coach, Ollie was award-ed a five-year contract. Following his second season in 2013-14, he spurned interest from NBA teams to sign anoth-er new contract with UConn that runs through May, 2019.
Ollie’s UConn history --- which began in the fall of 1991 when he reported to school as a freshman from Los Angeles, continued through four successful sea-sons, including two as a Husky team captain, and resumed when he returned to join Calhoun’s coaching staff follow-
ing a 13-year NBA career --- has come full circle. He may have only served two seasons as an assistant on Calhoun’s staff, but possessed a wealth of basket-ball knowledge after learning from some of the finest teachers to ever coach the game, including Calhoun, Chuck Daly, Don Nelson, Larry Brown, and George Karl.
Coming out of Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, Ollie played on some of Calhoun’s finest teams during the mid-1990s, as a four-year starting point guard and a two-time captain.
He played in 124 games for the Hus-kies, averaging 6.7 points and 5.0 as-sists. A third team All-Big East pick, his 619 assist total still ranks fourth on UCo-nn’s all-time list. He graduated in 1995 with a degree in Communications.
During his four-year UConn career, the Huskies had a record of 92-33, 51-21 in the Big East Conference and made three NCAA Tournament appearances. During Ollie’s last two seasons, when he served as a team captain, UConn’s
record was 57-10 overall and a dazzling 32-4 in the Big East, capturing two Big East regular-season championships, and reaching the NCAA Sweet 16 and Elite Eight, respectively.
After his UConn career, Ollie fought his way through years in the Continen-tal Basketball Association and the U.S. Basketball League to get his chance in the NBA.
Once there, Ollie would simply not give up his dream, signing a series of 10-day and one-year contracts, dealing with trades and frustrating roster cuts.
Yet Ollie would not be deterred, earning a reputation throughout the league as an outstanding teammate, with strong moral fiber, impeccable character, and a vast knowledge of the game. His perseverance finally paid off with a multi-year NBA contract from the Cleveland Cavaliers. During a 13-year NBA career, Ollie played for 11 different franchises in 12 cities.
Ollie couldn’t have had a more suc-cessful debut season to his coaching career than in 2010-11, as he helped guard Kemba Walker produce one of the most spectacular individual seasons in UConn history in leading the Huskies to the program’s third national champion-ship. He has had the same kind of suc-cess mentoring guards Jeremy Lamb, Shabazz Napier, and, this past season, Ryan Boatright.
Born in Dallas on Dec. 27, 1972, and raised in Los Angeles, Ollie resides in Glastonbury and has two children, son Jalen (born 6/22/96) and daughter Cheyanne (born 2/6/01).
