VOL-STARS OUTDOOR LOCATIONS STARTING BLOCKS SPLIT-SQUAD WEEKEND ¢ With just two weeks remaining until the cham- pionship portion of the indoor season, the UT track & field team will take on challenges at three differ- ent meets, sending contingents to the Tyson Invi- tational, the Samford Multi and Invitational and the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash. ¢ The majority of the squad will head to the Ran- dal Tyson Track Center for the highly-competitive Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas. The Vol and Lady Vol pole vaulters will also head south to compete in the Samford Multi and Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex, while distance runners Peter Okwera and Hannah Davidson will make a trip to the Pacific Northwest to run in the Husky Classic at the University of Washington’s Dempsey Indoor facility. ¢ The Tyson Invitational will run both Friday and Saturday. Okwera will run in the men’s 5,000-me- ter, while Davidson will compete in the women’s 3K and 5K on Friday and both pole vault groups will look to continue their early-season success on Saturday afternoon. ¢ Highlighting the 47-team field at the Tyson Invitational are 18 nationally-ranked programs, in- cluding both of the top teams in the nation. Meet host Arkansas has the top-ranked men’s team and No. 4 women’s team, while Kansas is the No. 1 women’s team in the country. BLANKENSHIP HONORED ¢ Pole vaulter Jake Blankenship added his first collegiate honor this week, being named the SEC Co-Men’s Freshman of the Week after a stellar per- formance in the Big Apple. In just his fourth col- legiate meet, he won his third title of the season and tied an elusive UT rookie record held by a big name. On his second attempt at the height, Blan- kenship cleared 18-feet 1/2-inch to tie former Vol and Olympic silver medalist Lawrence Johnson, who set the mark 20 years ago during his fresh- man campaign in 1993. ¢ Blankenship enters the weekend tied for fourth in the country, ranked second in the SEC and also tied for 27th-best in the world in 2013. STARTING BLOCKSSPLIT-SQUAD WEEKEND¢ With just two weeks remaining until the cham-
pionship portion of the indoor season, the UT track & field team will take on challenges at three differ-ent meets, sending contingents to the Tyson Invi-tational, the Samford Multi and Invitational and the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash.¢ The majority of the squad will head to the Ran-
dal Tyson Track Center for the highly-competitive Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas. The Vol and Lady Vol pole vaulters will also head south to compete in the Samford Multi and Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex, while distance runners Peter Okwera and Hannah Davidson will make a trip to the Pacific Northwest to run in the Husky Classic at the University of Washington’s Dempsey Indoor facility.¢ The Tyson Invitational will run both Friday and

BLANKENSHIP HONORED¢ Pole vaulter Jake Blankenship added his first
