1 Welcome Guests! We are glad you are here! Here are a few things we thought you would like to know to help you feel at home with us today: Please accept one of the green bags that you will find on your way out of the front entrance of the sanctuary as our gift to you. Restrooms are located in the large room adja- cent to the sanctuary. Our ushers will be glad to point you in the proper direction. Children are always welcome to worship with us and sincerely, that is what we prefer. However, for your convenience, a nursery is available for parents with children 3 years old and younger who might wish to use it. The nursery is staffed during the 9:15 Bible Study Hour & 10:45am service. Parents may use this room during the 8:00am service as well, but the room will not be staffed by volunteers. An usher will be happy to help you find the nursery room. The offering is an opportunity for our members to support the Lord’s work at Trinity. As our guest, we ask only that you sign our Friendship Pad as it is passed down the pew. When we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, we do so convinced that Jesus gives us His true body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins. Re- ceiving the Lord’s Supper here expresses not only fellowship with the Lord, but also agreement with the teachings of this congregation. There- fore communicant members of LC-MS congrega- tions are always welcome to commune with us, and other guests wishing to commune are kindly asked to speak with the pastor before the ser- vice. We cherish the opportunity to worship with all followers of Jesus, and we regret the sad divisions within Christianity. Whether you are communing with us today or not, please join us (and Jesus!) in praying for truth and unity within His Church. This facility is equipped with a hearing assis- tance system. Please ask an usher for a receiv- er. We would love to have your family join us for our Fellowship Hour & T3 that takes place Sunday mornings at 9:15am. Ask any of our members or the pastor and we will be happy to help you find your way and get settled in. Welcome Guests! We are glad you are here! Here are a few things we thought you would like to know to help you feel at home with us today:

Please accept one of the green bags that you will find on your way out of the front entrance of the sanctuary as our gift to you.

Restrooms are located in the large room adja-cent to the sanctuary.

Parents may use this room during the 8:00am service as well, but the room

will not be staffed by volunteers.

Re-ceiving the Lord’s Supper here expresses not only fellowship with the Lord, but also agreement with the teachings of this congregation. There-fore communicant members of LC-MS congrega-tions are always welcome to commune with us, and other guests wishing to commune are kindly asked to speak with the pastor before the ser-vice. We cherish the opportunity to worship with all followers of Jesus, and we regret the sad divisions within Christianity. Whether you are

communing with us today or not, please join us (and Jesus!) in praying for truth and unity within His Church.

This facility is equipped with a hearing assis-tance system. Please ask an usher for a receiv-er.

We would love to have your family join us for our Fellowship Hour & T3 that takes place Sunday mornings at 9:15am. Ask any of our members or the pastor and we will be happy to help you find your way and get settled in.

GIANNA POSIK (with family)

Justin & Linda, Lana (11) and Brianna (6)

Gianna is now “officially” a Trinity member after recently completing confirmation instruc-tion. She is 16 years old and is a sophomore at Germantown High School. The last hour of her school day is devoted to a Youth Apprenticeship Program where she eventually will be-come certified as a nursing assistant. Her goal is to complete that CNA course and eventu-ally work full time in a hospital. By her senior year she will be able to begin working there part time. She has a great interest in learning about different cultures and hopes working with “Doctors Without Borders” could possibly be in her future. She stressed that she “is not afraid of blood”! Gianna’s favorite subject is Biology and next year she will be taking Anatomy and Psychology, but right now she is looking forward to getting her driver’s license!

MATT & STEFANIE HERBERT (NOLAN and ADDIE)

The Herbert family recently joined Trinity as Stefanie has became part of Trinity’s staff filling the roll of Assistant Principal of Academics. The family resides in Greenfield where the chil-dren, Nolan (age 7) and Addie (age 6) are currently finishing the school year. Matt is Ware-house Manager for General Pet Supply which is located in northwest Milwaukee, so a move closer to our area would doubly be convenient. They are great “Do-it Yourselfers”, thus they are open to a house with work needing to be done. Stephanie grew up in Muskego and Matt in Milwaukee. She attended Wisconsin Lutheran High School, he attended Mil-waukee Lutheran High School and they both graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran College. They are sports fans enjoying volleyball and baseball. With lots of family in the area they enjoy many gatherings of the greater family and have had occasion to visit Florida a few times to see some “snowbird” relatives as well.

MELISSA APPLEBY Melissa grew up in Mequon, Wisconsin where she attended Calvary Lutheran (present day Christ Alone Lutheran) and then Homestead High School. From there, she graduated from UW – La Crosse with an Elementary Education major and an Early Childhood minor. After graduation, Melissa became a 4K teacher at Building Blocks Christian Learning Center in Mequon. She taught for six years at BBCLC, as well as coached cheerleading and assisted with coaching volleyball at Calvary. In 2017 Melissa had the exciting opportunity to join

Trinity’s staff as a 3K/4K teacher. Trinity has been a wonderful place for Melissa to educate God’s young children and to share her love of learning with students. When she’s not at school Melissa can be found spending time with friends, family, and her English Bulldog Winston. She loves health and wellness activities including working out, preparing healthy meals, and participating in her local running club. She also enjoys taking art and craft clas-ses at local shops.

RAY & LAURIE SCHULTZ Ray and Laurie live in Mequon’s Solar Heights, have been attending Trinity for awhile and are transferring their membership from Berea in Milwaukee. They grew up in Milwaukee and were young neighborhood friends. Laurie's family moved to Mequon when she was 17, but even so the friendship continued to blossom and now they have been married for 35 years. They have 3 children and 4 grandchildren, all of whom live in Cedarburg or nearby. Laurie has been a phar-

maceutical tech for Walgreens for years and now can be found in their Grafton location. Ray is the owner of Pro-fessional Carpet Service, installing carpets with his employees “as long as his knees hold out!” Ray & Laurie have property up north where they both enjoy hunting turkeys, deer and other game. They also spend time at the Daniel Boone shooting range in Hubertus. Currently they also find themselves as part of the “sandwich genera-tion” helping care for their mothers and their grandchildren.

Prayer Before Worship Holy Lord, You are worthy of my worship. Your power is breathtaking. Your holiness is absolute. Your love is unending. Help me to recognize Your awesome presence among us in this hour and to offer You the reverent love You deserve. Amen. First Reading: Acts 5: 12-20 The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the be-lievers used to meet together in Solomon's Colonnade. No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. Nevertheless, more and more men and wom-en believed in the Lord and were added to their number. As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bring-ing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed. Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. But during the night an an-gel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out. "Go, stand in the temple courts," he said, "and tell the people the full message of this new life."

P: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. Second Reading: Revelation 1: 4-18 (Sermon Text) John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father--to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen. "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Al-mighty." I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endur-ance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea." I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone "like a son of man," dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its bril-liance. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and be-hold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

P: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. Gospel—Good News: John 20: 19-31 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive any-one his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not be-lieve it." A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. P: This is the Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to You, O Christ!

FROM THE DESK OF RICK ADAMS

A while back I stopped by a jewelry store to get a new battery for my watch. While I was waiting, I saw a display that had this mes-sage: It’s your watch that tells most about who you are. I thought about the utter absurdity of such a claim, and then I realized that someone, somewhere, in some advertising agency in New York or Chicago or wherever, actually penned those words. Do you think anyone actually believes that their watch tells the most about who they are? The Seiko Watch people must think so, or they wouldn’t have spent the millions of dollars on this ad campaign.

Oh, if it were only true! If only what I wore on my wrist, or the clothes I wear, or the style of my hair, could be the determining fac-tor in who I truly am—now that would be truly helpful. I wouldn’t have to worry about things like integrity, character, faith, love, and forgiveness. I wouldn’t have to pay any attention to messy little things like original sin and a heart that is, by nature, against God.

Paul wrestled with this whole thing—in Romans 7. He struggled with coming to grips with who he was—in his truest form—and he came to the ugly realization in v. 24—WRETCHED MAN!

Ahh...but then comes v. 25, and it washes over us like a fresh rain from heaven—thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! [who delivers me from this body of death.]

In Christ, you are a new creation, one belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

And that, my friends, is what truly defines who you truly are!
