BARCELONA METRO LINE 9
Customer: Transports Metropolitans de BarcelonaIn revenue service: since 2006Scope of supply: 50x5-car trainsHighlights: Fully automatic metro line, 99% availability
When we planned our high capacity, driverless metro line, we considered
that one of the main success factors to guarantee the viability of this project was high-reliability and high-availability rolling stock. Today we can confi rm that this objective has been fully reached thanks to the Metropolis trains supplied by Alstom along with the complete integration of all interfaces involved in the UTO* line.

Design & Styling lies at the intersection of engineering and creative design.
Our aim is to offer customers exacting designs faithfully rendered in the image of their expectations and in perfect harmony with the general confi guration of the vehicle under development. Face-to-face meetings establish a rapport with the customer that makes the choice process simple and straightforward. Once the design principles are agreed upon, they are integrated into product design.

FLEETOWNER
ALSTOM IS THE ONLY MANUFACTURER TO OFFER A FULLY AUTOMATIC, DRIVERLESS (UTO *) FUNCTIONALITY OR PROVISION TO UPGRADE TO UTO FOR IT’S COMPLETE RANGE OF METRO TRAINS—SMALL, MEDIUM OR WIDE, STEEL WHEEL OR RUBBER TYRE—WITH REFERENCES OF EACH TYPE IN SERVICE.
TRAINTRACER IS AN INNOVATIVE SYSTEM BY ALSTOM WHICH CONTINUOUSLY MONITORS THE TRAIN’S MAIN COMPONENTS, BRINGING OPERATORS VALUABLE INFORMATION ON EACH TRAIN’S CONDITION IN REAL TIME. THIS DATA CAN BE USED TO CLARIFY SITUATIONS AS THEY ARISE. MAINTENANCE MANAGERS RELY ON TRAINTRACER’S RECORDS OF COMPONENT STATUS AND WEAR TRENDS TO OPTIMIZE PREVENTIVE AND CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE FOR THE ENTIRE FLEET.

BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEENYOUR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATING TEAMS
Working in close coordination, fl eet managers and maintenance technicians use TrainTracer to schedule parts changes more accurately, during regularly scheduled maintenance, avoiding disruptive failures.
TRAINLIFE SERVICES
Alstom offers a full range of metro maintenance services and parts logistics support working with each customer’s maintenance crews.
Alstom provides a proven driverless radio CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) system ensuring high reliability, safety and an optimized quality of service for passengers on any type of rolling stock, new or existing.
