ETIOPIA: UN DECENNIO DI CRESCITA AL 10%, ORA L’OBIETTIVO È DIVENTARE UN PAESE A MEDIO REDDITO ETIOPIA – Un’invidiabile
sf iorato l’11%.
(30.11.2015 – Africa E Affari)
“L’Etiopia è in corsa per il
titolo, il nostro paese sta
superando il percorso
impegnativo di sviluppo, è
pronto a rompere nuovi
record del mondo, proprio
come i famosi corridori di
lunga distanza” commenta
Abraham Tekeste, il vice
commissario per la
Pianificazione, usando una
metafora che ben si addice a
una terra che ha sfornato
tanti campioni di atletica.
Secondo la Banca Mondiale,
dopo aver fatto tanta strada
l’Etiopia si appresta entro il
2025 ad entrare nel novero
dei paesi a medio reddito.,
fornendo lavoro a una
massa sempre più
numerosa di abitanti,
portando sviluppo anche
nelle zone rurali, riducendo
la mortalità infantile e
maternale, e cominciando a
esportare energia nei paesi
vicini grazie alle imponenti
dighe realizzate o in fase di
costruzione.
“Abbiamo una visione
chiara, condivisa e di lungo
termine – ha aggiunto
Tekeste nel corso di
un’audizione presso la
Commissione per la
pianificazione – il nostro
governo è impegnato per
una crescita centrata sullo
sviluppo economico, sulla
trasformazione e
sull’eradicamento della
povertà”.
L’Etiopia sta di fatto
portando Avanti una politica
che fa perno su agricoltura
e industria e su un grosso
sforzo infrastrutturale.
Quest’ultimo è stato reso
possibile anche da minori
spese per la difesa e
aumento delle esportazioni.
Fattori che, insieme
all’espansione
dell’educazione secondaria
hanno contribuito ad
abbassare la percentuale di
popolazione che vive al di
sotto della linea di povertà
dal 44% del 2000 al 30% del
2011.

NAMPAK PLANS TO OPEN BOTTLE PLANTS IN ETHIOPIA, NIGERIA
South Africa’s Nampak, leading manufacturer of
beverage, food and non-
perishable packaging, announced plans to open
glass bottle factory in
Nigeria and Ethiopia with an outlay of USD 155
million, according to Reuters.
(01.12.2015 – 2Merkato)
The openings of the plants
come as part of Nampak’s
strategy of generating half of
its profit outside its home
market in five years.
Nampak has been
expanding in Africa to
balance weakness at home
where clients in
manufacturing industry are
cutting output due to
subdued consumer demand.
Andre de Ruyter, Chief
Executive Officer at
Nampak, said the bottle
plant in Ethiopia would cost
USD 65 million and
Nigeria’s USD 90 million.
According to Ruyter, the
Ethiopian factory, which
would have the capacity to
produce as much as 30,000
tons of glass per year, would
have no shortage of
consumers.
De Ruyter said: "The
Ethiopian beer market is
growing extremely fast and
virtually all of their glass is
imported at the moment."
The plant in Nigeria, where
Nampak already runs a
beverage can business,
would produce 50,000 tons
of glass per year.
