Born to Gervais and Marguerite Chantegros on July 31,1939, in Paris, France, Suzy Tomlinson passed away Sunday,September 28, 2008.

She was educated at the Universite Paris-Sorbonne in France.While working as a model in France, she caught the eyeof an American soldier. They married and moved to theUnited States in 1960. Although she arrived not knowingthe language, she quickly blended the best of both cultures:

America's optimism, entrepreneurial spirit and zest for lifewith France's style, grace and culinary delights. During the1970s and 1980s, she opened and managed furniture stores,featuring antiques as well as new and used pieces. Later,

~~~~~~~;;;;;;:~~ she was a chef as well as an interior and floral designer.
The beloved mother of 6, devoted grandmother to 12and doting great grandmother to 7,Suzy was the family matriarch in its truest sense. As is the case in many large families,it was her strength and love that held the family together. Her unconditional love for herfamily knew few boundaries and was a reflection of her spirituality and faith in Christ.Her compassion and heart of gold extended to many outside the family - especially toyoung children. She was blessed with many friends and treasured time spent with each
one. Another great passion was her love of nature. Her daily routine included tendingher flowers and feeding the birds and neighborhood wildlife. She also had a deepappreciation for music with jazz and Motown as favorites. ",
•1} :~ ~~.Suzy contributed to countless charities, large and small. Someof her favorites included the Make-A-Wish Foundation, theIndiana Sailors and Soldiers Children's Home and the WorldWildlife Fund. She also played a role in Hilbert Foundationgifts, including $10million toward the Indianapolis SymphonyOrchestra for the Hilbert Circle Theater, $2million in matchingfunds to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church Building Fund,$3.5 million toward the Indianapolis Zoo for the Hilbert
Conservatory, $4 million toward Park Tudor School for theHilbert Early Education Center, and $3 million to St.VincentHospital for the Hilbert Pediatric Emergency Department.Her memberships included The American Legion, theVeterans of Foreign Wars in Carmel, and the Indiana StatePolice Alliance.
Hilbert; Heather Hilbert; and Todd Hilbert (Audrey). Great grandchildren include: EliasCovington; Caden Covington; Adrian Ball; Dakota Maestas and Sophia Allen; and Stephenand Jacob Hilbert.
~ Suzy loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her fondestmoments were spending time with and cooking for herchildren, grandchildren and friends. Suzy also lovedsocializing with her friends, while meeting new andinteresting people along the way. She was truly a socialbutterfly. For instance, Reggie Millerloved talking with her- even though he (along with many others) often did notunderstand exactly what she was saying. In 1998,she had
the opportunity to spend time with Charleston Heston,who was totally mesmerized by Suzy just being Suzy.That same year, she met Prince Michael of Kent. He saidto her, "Youmust be from royalty." Again, Suzy was justbeing Suzy. And, we all knew she was the Queen Bee.Her sense of style was impeccable, and her French flairwas undeniable. On another occasion, Suzy was inMiami and crossed paths with Michael Jordan, whoturned to her son, Dominique, while grabbing Suzy bythe hand and said, "What a beautiful lady! You besure to take care of her." People from all walks of life
'" were drawn to her.. .
"'~~"~~'_ .-...---~ ... She also loved the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestraand would never miss attending the Yuletide Celebration
with her entire family. And of course, going out with her friends and doingwhat came naturally, which was lighting up a room with her contagious energy. As shedisplayed class and sophistication, coupled with her zest for life, she drew people to herwith her magnetic presence. She also loved games - especially slot machines and lotterytickets. She loved winning and hated losing. In a nutshell, she loved action, along withthe sensationalism of the gossip magazines. She enjoyed giving praise, but never likedreceiving it. She always got embarrassed when you complimented her. Suzy's greatestgift to all that knew her was her positive attitude, her never-give-up mindset and herability to overcome obstacles. Heaven is without a doubt a better place. We were all truly
blessed to have known Suzy, and we would have missed out on so much joy and love ifshe had not touched our lives in such a profound way.
THE WORD OF GOD
Isaiah 25:6-9On this mountain the LORD of Hosts will prepare a banquet ofrich fare for all the peoples, a banquet of wines well matured andrichest fare, well-matured wines strained dear. On this mountainthe LORDwill swallow up that veil that shrouds all the peoples, thepall thrown over all the nations; he will swallow up death for ever.Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from every face andremove the reproach of his people from the whole earth. The LORDhas spoken. On that day men will say, See, this is our God for whomwe have waited to deliver us; this is the LORD for whom we havewaited; let us rejoice and exult in his deliverance.
Psalm 23
The LORDis my shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside
the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousnessfor his name's sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff theycomfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Revelation 21:2-7I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven fromGod, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband. Iheard a loudvoice proclaiming from the throne: 'Now at last God has his dwellingamong men! He will dwell among them and they shall be his people,and God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from theireyes; there shall be an end to death, and to mourning and crying andpain; for the old order has passed away!' Then he who has sat onthe throne said, 'Behold! I am making all things new!' (And he saidto me, 'Write this down; for these words are trustworthy and true.Indeed they are already fulfilled.') 'I am the Alpha and the Omega, thebeginning and the end. A draught from the water-springs of life willbe my free gift to the thirsty. All this is the victor's heritage; and I willbe his God and he shall be my son.'
The Holy Gospel According to JohnJohn 14:1-6"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also inme. In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If it werenot so, would Ihave told you that Igo to prepare a place for you? Andif I go and prepare a place for you, Iwill come again and will take youto myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you knowthe way to the place where I am going. Thomas said to him, "Lord,we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No onecomes to the Father except through me."
