HUWAG KANG BABOY.
“We have done that in thepast. [In] the helicopter scam,
we have given immunity to theperson, who bought helicoptersfor Mike Arroyo [husband of theformer President] and sold heli-copters for Mike Arroyo,” sinabikahapon ng senador.
Aniya, gusto niyang tukuyinni Napoles lahat ng “congress-men and senators whom she hasbeen bribing.”
Sinabi ni Osmeña na maariring igiit ng babae ang karapa-tan niyang hindi ipahamak ang
kanyang sarili kapag humarapito sa Senado sa Nob. 7.“The whole nation is dying to
hear Napoles ... because they want to hear the truth .... Willthat happen? I don’t think so. Un-less we offer her to become state
witness—which means immunity from prosecution—she’s not goingto say anything,” anang senador.
Pero tutol si Sen. Francis Es-cudero sa panukala ni Osmeña.
“It’s unlikely that she’s theleast guilty and then maybe all
those involved here might be giv-en immunity, and only the secondstringers will remain [among theaccused],” ani Escudero. NB, JRU
Sabwatan naaamoy ni PNoy nay ang DAP sa Priority Devel-opment Assistance Fund (PDAF).
Aniya, ang pondong pam-pasigla ng ekonomiya ay “un-
justly and oddly vilified in themedia ... nearly two years afterthe same media lauded govern-ment for its resourcefulness.”

BIR lists down least taxpaying richof $1.15 billion, shared the 14th spoton the list of thecountry’s richest.
The Gotianun fam-ily of Filinvest Devel-opment landed on17th place with $825million.
Villar, who owns Vista Land, was the18th richest individu-al with $720 million.
The Yuchengco
family, who ownsRizal CommercialBanking Corp.(RCBC), ranked 21st
with $570 million.Other individuals
who were on Forbes’list last year but whodid not make it to theBIR’s roster were Mar-iano Tan Jr., 22ndrichest with $420 mil-lion; Enrique Aboitiz,
23rd richest with$400 million; Menar-do Jimenez, 27thrichest with $265 mil-lion; Alfredo Ramos,30th richest with
$250 million; JulietRomualdez, 35th rich-est with $200 million;Bienvenido TantocoSr. and family, 36thrichest with $195 mil-lion;
Jacinto Ng Sr.,37th richest with$190 million; Tomas
Alcantara and family,38th richest with$160 million; MichaelCosiquien, 39th rich-
est with $150 million;and Edgar Sia II, 40thrichest with $140 mil-lion.
The BIR alsolearned that somepeople who took thetop spots on theForbes’ list ranked rel-atively low on therevenue agency’s ros-ter.
For instance, Hen-
ry Sy Sr., the tycoon who owns SM, wasthe richest man in thePhilippines last year
with a net worth of $9.1 billion. But he
was only the 73rdbiggest taxpayer onthe BIR’s list. Sy re-portedly paid P93.76million in taxes.
Lucio Tan and fam-ily were named thesecond richest with acombined net worthof $4.5 billion. ButTan ranked only 138th on the BIR’slist, paying P11.97million in taxes.
John GokongweiJr. and family was the4th richest on Forbes’list with a combinednet worth of $3.2 bil-lion. John paid P8.38
million in taxes, plac-ing 260th on the BIR’sroster.
Sy, Tan andGokongwei, in fact,
were outstripped by several show biz per-sonalities on the BIR’stop taxpayers list.
The BIR said theobjective of releasingthe advertisements re-lated to tax payments
was to encourage com-
pliance with the coun-try’s tax laws and todiscourage tax evasion.
But it stressed thatone could not auto-matically conclude
that tax evasion took place when someonelanded on the Forbes’list of the richest butnot on the BIR’s ros-ter of top taxpayers.
“It is possible thatone had accumulatedassets over the past
years but did not earna substantial incomein 2012. In that case,it is understandable
why someone can
land on the Forbes’list but not on theBIR’s list,” BIR Deputy Commissioner Nelson
Aspe explained.
By Michelle V. Remo
A FTER coming out with the listof top taxpayers for 2012, theBureau of Internal Revenue
(BIR) released another report involv-ing the richest individuals in the coun-try who did not make it to the rosterof tax contributors.
In its latest weekly public advertisementpublished yesterday, the BIR detailed
Forbes’ list of the rich-est Filipinos in 2012and where they stoodin the bureau’s owntaxpayers’ roster.
The comparison re- vealed that some of the individuals on theForbes’ list were noton the BIR’s top tax-payers’ roster.
In computing aperson’s net worth,
Forbes Magazine took an individual’s assetsless liabilities. On theother hand, the BIR’slist was based on theamount of tax an in-
dividual paid.Those who were
on the Forbes’ list butnot on the BIR’s roster
of top taxpayers wereEduardo CojuangcoJr., siblings Iñigo andMercedes Zobel, An-drew Gotianun andfamily, Manuel Villar, and Alfonso Yucheng-co and family.
According toForbes, Cojuangco of San Miguel Corp. wasthe 10th richest indi-
vidual in the country
last year with a net worth of $1.4 billion.

and go but the constant “girl” inKa Freddie’s life is his daughter,Maegan. Here are Maegan’ssentiments on the issue:
“She (Ka Freddie’s girlfriend)lives with us now. My family and I also stay with Tatay sinceI’m seven months pregnant. She’s nice and quiet. Her momslept over once. It seems their(Freddie’s and the girl’s) rela-tionship is serious. They met inTatay’s show in Mindoro. Atfirst, we thought she was 25 be-cause she doesn’t look 16. She’seven taller than me. Beyondthat, it’s none of my business.
“My brother is already 24and his wife is expecting a baby, too. We are all grown-ups and
we are glad that Tatay is happy. He has the right to live his life
any way he pleases.“As for my Tatay’s detractors,
huwag n’yong ibaling sa tatay koang galit n’yo sa problema sa
paligid at sa gobyerno natin.“Nothing you say or do will
affect or ruin us anyway. My fa-ther and his song ‘Anak’ will for-ever be part of the foundation of our country. Whether you like itor not, nothing can changethat.”
Spoken like a devoted
daughter. Live and let live! Loveand let love! Nobody’s too oldor too young to love. Why waituntil it’s too late?
Hoop sensationBenjie Paras is one proud
daddy. His 16-year-old son,Kobe, is the latest sensation inthe basketball world. He repre-sented the Philippines and wonthe International Slam Dunk
Contest.The young hardcourt heart-
throb has signed up with GMA 7. (Brother Andre also joinedthe Kapuso network.)
What’s Benjie’s advice to hisson about show biz and girls?“Just to act natural and to takeacting workshops,” he said. “Asfor girls, it’s OK to fall in lovebut he should be ready to gethurt. Heartbreak should not
stop him from loving because
it will make him stronger.”What are his do’s anddon’ts for Kobe? “To grad-uate from college and nev-er back out when he com-mits to something.”
In what ways are they alike? “Kobe is also funny and friendly,” Benjie said.“Just like me, he’s not aquitter and he loves chal-lenges.”
Will Kobe be able to topBenjie’s feat in the Philip-pine Basketball Association(PBA), winning both Rook-ie of the Year and Most
Valuable Player titles in thesame year (1989)?
“It’s too early to tell,” Benjiesaid. “He’s in third year highschool in La Salle. He still has along way to go. But, of course,I’m here to guide and train him.”
With a PBA legend as hismentor, Kobe is just a few drib-bles away from basketball su-
perstardom.Concerned momLike any mother, Ate Vi ( Vil-
ma Santos) is concerned abouther son, Luis Manzano, but she
would rather let him fight hisown battles.
The Star for All Seasons issecure in the thought that shehas raised her firstborn well, sohe’s well-equipped to hurdle
whatever trials may come his way.
When asked to commentabout Luis’ (rumored) breakup
with Jennylyn Mercado, here’s what Ate Vi had to say: “I don’tmeddle in my son’s affairs. I
just keep praying that they will
both be OK. Luis runs to mefrom time to time. When I ask him if he’s OK and he says he’sfine, that’s enough reassurancefor me. I just remind him that
when he’s having problems, heshould not forget to count hisblessings.”
And that is also what Ate Vi will do instead of counting the years as she celebrates herbirthday on Nov. 3. “I have somany blessings to be thankfulfor,” she says. “I’ll spend my birthday abroad with my family.I need to take a break to keepme sane. Quality time with my family is the best antidote tostress and fatigue.”
That Vilma Santos charm willnever wane through trends and
year s. The radia nce of Ate Vi’ssmile is genuine, even whenthere are no lights and camerasto capture it. It comes naturally because it’s a reflection of thekindness of her heart.
