DISCUSSION In October of 2014 the Public Art Commission reviewed a mural proposal for the east façade of the property located at 12 W. Main Street as proposed by property owner Josh Addison and artist MB Hanrahan. The Commission provided direction to the applicant that the design proposal be modified to address the entire length of the building (Attachment A). Staff is coordinating with the Planning Division to include review by the Historic Preservation Committee. Artist team MB Hanrahan and Moses Mora have proposed an extension of the Tortilla Flats Mural project at this site. The artists’ proposal is attached below: 12 West Main Street/Tortilla Flats Legacy Mural Proposal July 2017 We, Moses Mora and MB Hanrahan, are designing and will be seeking PAC and Historical Preservation committee approval for a mural on the east facing exterior wall of the historical 1903 building at the corner of Ventura Ave. and Main St., (The Feraud Building). The building is owned by the Addison Family Trust. The owner is in support of this mural, and is currently priming and repainting the wall, anticipating the eventual mural, and is prepared to submit a letter stating their support for and sponsorship of the project. The mural will contain images based on archived photographs of Tortilla Flats buildings, businesses and residents-focusing on sites in the West Main St./ Ventura Avenue area. The mural will also reference the diaspora of displaced Tortilla Flats residents, who moved up Ventura Avenue. We will feature composite imagery of families working seasonally in the walnut and apricot orchards in the North Avenue farmlands.
