TO OUR LAUNCH PAD COMPETITION PARTNERS
*As a reminder, all writers, agents and managers are listed in alphabetical order by first initial of their first names.
THE 2018 YOUNG & HUNGRY LIST
S ince 2011, The Tracking Board has created The Young & Hungry List from the nominations and advice of
Hollywood’s most influential tastemakers to showcase up-and-coming talent: these are the most in-demand and
most buzzed about on-the-rise new writers. Whether it’s a newcomer with their first big hit, a more seasoned
veteran hitting their stride, or a writer returning to their roots, everyone on this list has one thing in common: an
unrelenting drive to make their mark.
The Young & Hungry List is meticulously assembled from the collected votes of producers, directors, executives,
agents and managers, and is a product of the combined know-how of the industry’s most experienced professionals.
Each year more voters turn out to make their voices heard, making each list more comprehensive than the last,
and opening the doors for more new writers than ever before. Without the knowledge and expertise of these
distinguished individuals, this list could not exist.
Aiming to both recognize and energize the momentum with which these young professionals are making a name
for themselves, Young & Hungry alumni have seen their work screened at every major festival, and their projects
featured on every major industry list. They’ve been Nicholl Fellows, sold franchise blockbusters, created Emmy-
winning shows, and won Oscars all after being recognized by this list. Several honorees in the past have gone on
to become household names today.
Unlike most year-end lists, The Young & Hungry List focuses not on the scripts, but on the writers themselves,
emphasizing not just a single noteworthy project, but the foundations of an impressive body of work that’s just
taking off. Now in its eighth year, The Young & Hungry List is still compiled with one goal in mind - to represent
the “best of the best” of Hollywood’s collected shortlists. We are proud to have become the premier source for
identifying new talent, emerging voices, and those with the potential to achieve greatness.
