DivePort Navigation and Bridge
©2016 Dimensional Insight, Inc.
Bridge
Users log in to Bridge, and can see all of their DivePort sites.
Each button on bridge is defined by a DivePort URL.
Access to each site is controlled at the DiveLine level.
Single point of entry for all of your Diver servers

Menu Portlet
Users see potential destinations based on their access rights.
Each button in a menu portlet is defined by a page within the same DivePort.
The properties of the button are based on the destination page.
Security is controlled by the destination page.

Quickviews and Spectre

Quickview Portlets: Two Options
Find Quickviews in other portlets to have quickviews defined by the markers on the page
Use Quickview Set to define quickviews in WorkBench.

Quickview Portlets: Two OptionsFind Quickviews in other portlets
Markers have their own Quickviews
Quickview Portlet surveys other Portlets and merges the results
Requires the use of Markers
Quickviews defined on a single cPlan
Other portlets will “listen” to the Quickview portlet
Allows Markers and Spectre Dives
Use Quickview Set

Spectre Quickview Set
Open a single cPlan Specify Quickviews Dimension Quickviews
are dependent in order List Quickviews not in
the chain Keep standard
Quickview sets around
Defined in WorkBench

Conditional Click Actions
©2016 Dimensional Insight, Inc.
Conditional Click Actions
Works on any click action with “row” scope
Check the “Conditional” option to activate
Name a column to be tested
Return the correct information for the record selected
©2016 Dimensional Insight, Inc.
Conditional Click Actions
Define a column to be used as the condition
If the column is blank/zero, the click action will not be active
Any other value will activate the click action
Sometimes a summary will do just fine
Create a column to drive the click action

Timeseries
©2016 Dimensional Insight, Inc.
What is Timeseries?
You need to report numbers for a particular period of time
If you want to show two different periods, you can’t just dive
If you want to show “year to date” numbers, you have to define “to date”
Timeseries is a collection of features that enable the creation of columns that are filtered on time.

Anchor Date
Many timeseries types require the selection of an “as of” date In ProDiver’s Timeseries Wizard, you have a few options In Spectre cPlans, you have countless options (just write a calc)
Define the “TD” in “YTD”
In Integrator, you generate a column of Anchor dates
How do you want the user to control the Anchor date?
Select a column where the start of the year is period 1

Options for Timeseries
ProDiver Period Comparison: simple ad-hoc requests ProDiver Timeseries Wizard: more control over more
columns Spectre Timeseries: cPlan-level control of columns to be
built. Named Groups / Filters: build columns one-by-one for
finer control.
Integrator Timeseries: reorganizes the data to optimize for timeseries reporting
Build new columns filtered on time

Use cases for Timeseries
ProDiver Period Comparison: Program tracking – new placements in March after not buying the last 6 months
ProDiver Timeseries Wizard: Calendar and Fiscal YTD vs Last YTD
Spectre cPlan Timeseries: Developer control of standard columns available for users to select
Integrator Timeseries: When everything else is too slow or too complicated
The right tool for the right scenario

cPlans and DivePlans
cPlans describe merges, calcs, timeseries, and lookups to be done when opening Spectre data
DivePlans describe merges, calcs, timeseries, and lookups to be done when opening Diver data
DivePlans do more: console layout, column selection, named groups – focus on ProDiver
DivePlans can open cPlans
Building a consistent environment for displays and analysis

cPlans and DivePlans
cPlans are designed to be a developer tool:– WorkBench is the editor– Resulting calcs are the starting point
DivePlans are edited in several ways:– DiveMaster is the creation tool– ProDiver can change a DivePlan
You can build in separation between developers and users– Let the cPlan do the work you want centralized– Let power users have control of DivePlans– (This works with just DivePlans, too…)

Frequently used as a pop-up in context
Pick the right columns Supports quickview portlets
(use a portal page) Runs over Marker or Spectre

Thinking about Security

Security in 6.4
Users log in Users may be in groups Access Control Lists (ACLs)
are developed for users and/or groups
$USER and $GROUP allow the comparison of user and group names to dimension values in the data
Grant access to objects based on a user (or group)
©2016 Dimensional Insight, Inc.
Security in 7.0
Users log in Users may be in groups Users and groups are granted access to projects Users have properties Access is defined at a directory level, based on user,
group, and/or user property values Property values may be directly compared to
dimension values in the data
Use user properties to separate the rules from the maintenance
©2016 Dimensional Insight, Inc.
Security in 7.0
Users, groups, and user property values are maintained in server settings
Access rules are maintained within the project The person who sets up users may not be the same
person who develops the application Aim to have administration handled on the server
settings side – it should never be necessary to change the access rules.
Divide tasks between developers and administrators
©2016 Dimensional Insight, Inc.
Security in 7.0
User properties and their selected values may be maintained manually in Workbench.
Or, user properties and their selected values may be maintained externally, and placed in a file to be read by DiveLine at the time of access.
Let the data define access rules

The Workbench Text Editor

Workbench Text Editor
Workbench has some graphical interfaces, but you can always use text
Color-coding: reserved words in blue, strings in red, comments in green
Treeview-style +/- to expand/contract sections

Workbench Text Editor Error Highlighting
Errors highlighted with red underline Hover the cursor over an error to see what the editor is
complaining about Errors include syntax and context issues

Workbench Text Editor Suggestions
Ctrl-Space will offer suggestions for valid tags based on the location of the cursor
If workbench has no suggestions, make sure you’re in a valid section
