Meet Mae Alcorn Mae grew up in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with her sister and three brothers. She remained in the area until she met her future husband, Grady. Mae and Grady met in the town square in Murfreesboro, which was the popular spot to gather with friends on weekend nights. Grady’s cousin was friends with Mae and decided to introduce the future couple. Grady couldn’t resist flirting with Mae all night, and as Mae says, “e rest is history.” e couple was happily married for 67 years. Mae and Grady came to a mutual decision that they both needed more assistance, security, and a new place to call home. After looking at several places, Mae decided that the Fountains of Franklin was the most beautiful place in the area and a place where they would feel comfortable. Unfortunately, Grady did not get to fully enjoy the beauty of the Fountains as he passed away 3 weeks after moving into the facility. In his earlier years, Grady got a job transfer, and the couple moved to Nashville. Mae began working at South Central Bell Phone Company, where she worked for 37 years. Mae is extremely proud to be able to say, “I was the first woman to take a high position previously held only by men.” e men sure didn’t like that much but Mae held her own and proved to everyone how committed and hardworking she was. (Go Mae!) Mae’s next adventure was being a real estate agent for four years and finding her passion for shopping and going out to lunch with friends. At the age of 31, Mae and Grady adopted their beautiful daughter, Andrea. Andrea was only three months old at the time and the couple called her their greatest blessing. Andrea filled their lives with more happiness and love than they could’ve ever imagined. Both Grady and Mae had fulfilled their life dreams and goals but Mae does add that she would like to help Andrea adopt a child so she can have a grandchild. Also, she dreams that Andrea meets her perfect Prince Charming, and they live happily ever after. Each new year is a God-given opportunity to be blessed and to bless others. In 2016, we look forward to both! With our Fountains' family expanding due to Reflections Memory Care and to the Villas, we are excited about not only the new residents, but also the services that we can provide to increase the quality of their lives. e current construction schedule is leading towards a February opening of Reflections and an early spring opening of the Villas. Meet Denise SimpsonThe Fountains of Franklin is fortunate that Denise’s friend told her about an open Dietary Aide position at the facility. At the time, Denise was only looking for a part time temporary job; however, she now remarks, "I don't know what I would do without my Fountains family.” Our very own Denise had an attention-grabbing childhood. Calling herself an army brat, she has traveled the world and lived in many fascinating places. She was born in North Carolina and was raised in Arkansas, Germany, France, and Oklahoma, where she lived for ten years. In 2005, Denise and her husband of eighteen years, Jim, moved to Tennessee to settle down and put down some roots. Denise has four grown children and three grandsons, who she loves to spoil and visit as much as any proud grandmother would. When Denise is not working, she enjoys watching
Survivor and playing with her dog, Rooster. One of her dreams is to win the lottery and pamper her family. We wish you luck and hope that you share your winnings with your Fountains family!
