The Emerging Trends in the task…
The sad disappearance of the career medical missionary.Hundreds of mission hospitals are all crying for
medical personnelOnly 20 percent of doctors who have felt the call of
God to go as missionary doctors still have that interest when their training is completed1
The Trend in the task of Medical MissionsThe shortening of the medical missionary career to short term
trips. No desire for sacrifice is apparentShort-term service and short-term teams have killed long-term
service. How do you achieve social transformation?Of a hundred feeling the definite call of God to missions, only
12-20 complete training for this calling; only 2 actually go, and only 1 stays1,2.
TrendsThe closure of mission hospitals
Expenses, the lack of key medical staff, difficulties in running a mission hospital and sometimes the lack of vision from mission leadership.
Greater need for the service of mission hospitalsRevival hubs e.g. AIM, India and China experience Painted as a "sunset ministry“Personal peace and affluence have become dominant values of our
culture
“I need basic health care…
…who will reach me”
10Who Will Go for Our Generation?Acts 13:36
Low universal health coverage
82% of the poorest of the world's poor
84% of those with lowest quality of living
The main centers of Islam, Buddhism, & Hinduism

All Christians are called to respond to the task of missions in their different vocations and geographical locations – Christian health workers are not exempt
Medical missions offer one of the greatest and unique opportunity in world missions
It is God who enables and qualifies us, on our own we are not equal to the task
