Page 2
Bethlehem 125/177: The bridge is a 401' long three-span IB-C built in 1983. The deck, superstructure, andsubstructure have ratings of 7, 7, and 7, respectively. The bridge has not yet received a new membrane andthe western expansion joint is leaking on to the western abutment.
Carroll 173/141: The bridge is a 111' long, single span IB-C built in 1987. The deck, superstructure, andsubstructure have ratings of 6, 6, and 7, respectively. The bridge has not yet received a new membrane.Performing bridge preservation activities on the bridge will prevent scour at this historic structure and extendthe useful life of the bridge.
The proposed contingency amount is 10% of the contract amount. The work includes partial and full depthdeck repairs. The extent of this work has been estimated, but the full extent of the work will not be fullyknown until the existing asphalt and membrane are removed from the bridge. These factors increase the riskof overruns. ^
The Contractor has been prequalified by this Department. The Contract has been approved by the AttorneyGeneral as to form and execution, and the Department has certified that the necessary funds are available andthe bid reasonably conforms to the engineer's estimate in accordance with State procedure. Copies of thefully executed contract are on file at the Secretary of Slate's Office and the Department of AdministrativeService's Office, and subsequent to Governor and Council approval will be on file at the Department ofTransportation.
This project funding is: 80% Federal (Bridge-T 1-2 Maintenance & Preservation) with anticipated utilizationof Turnpike Toll Credits for the State's 20% match, effectively using 100% Federal Funds.
A copy of the Tabulation of Bids received for this project is attached along with the Contract SupplementalSheet and a map indicating the location of the project.
Your approval of this resolution is respectfully requested.
