The first two periods of the Romantic Age

• Starts in 1798, the year of the first edition of “Lyrical Ballads” by Wordsworth and Coleridge

• The first period is called the Age of Revolutions

• “Lyrical Ballads” wasn’t very popular in his time but eventually changed the course of English literature and poetry

• The second period is marked by the work of Byron, Walter Scott, John Keats
