Tim VanLandingham home: 229-377-4786 cell phone: 229-327-6733 email: [email protected] Dear Pavo Bapst Church Family and Friends: Some years ago, I was given a stack of yellowed papers by an elderly rered pastor who was a member of the church where I was pas- tor. He had hoped I might be able to use some of the items. To be quite honest, I wasn’t parcularly interested in reading some outdated material, and I definitely didn’t need the cluer. However, in that stack was an early ‘60’s church newsleer from a Florida Southern Bap- st Church where a gentleman was pastor who had served the church where I was presently the pastor. That Pastor’s Column caught my eye. Though typewrien and mimeographed (do you remember those?), and now yellowed and brile with age, the illustraon therein piqued my interest because it is meless. That pastor began telling a story of why he was not at church on a parcular Sunday, and that he didn’t think anyone would really noce that he was not there. Aſter all, other people just didn’t show up some Sundays and things went on. The story connued, sounding so convincing that it had really happened. The Pastor then revealed that the story was ficous on his part, but that the situaon did happen quite oſten in many church families. You know, churches have always been challenged by the selfish desire to just stay home, for whatever reason. Let’s remember that church aendance is so important for at least these reasons: God’s Word calls us to a Holy Assembly on a regular basis. Because we are the Church, the Bride of Christ, our desire ought to be to spend me with our Husband, Christ. Sunday is the day we celebrate the Resurrecon, and we owe Christ our All! Bible Study and Worship disciples us, and makes us Holy! Full churches and church parking areas gives a tesmony to the world of who is our First Love! The absence of our automobiles and our bodies from our home in masse gives tesmony to our First Love! Our children will follow in our footsteps, so we ought to give them perfect examples. See you at church every Sunday, and Wednesday! Even if we are on vacaon over Sunday, be in someone’s church. May we never take a “vacaon” from our Lord! In the Matchless Name of Jesus, Timothy C.
